ILM Level 3 – Module M3.30 Reflective Review 1 – Communication in Management 1 - The Communication Process A - Introduction Communication is the process of sharing thoughts, ideas and facts with others and having those thoughts, ideas and facts understood by the persons receiving them. This process needs a sender, a message, the method by which the message is delivered, a receiver and the feedback, or response, for effective communication to take place. This assignment will look at two communication needs specifically used within my workplace, specifically the Schools Accountancy Team. Our customers are School Business Managers and Finance Officers who are based in schools within the Local Authority. The Schools Accountancy Team support these colleagues in a financial capacity and need to be able to respond quickly to their queries. B - Newsletter to Schools from Schools Accountancy Team 1) Background The Schools Accountancy team will often have to inform schools with messages that can range from an urgent message that must be acted on immediately to a message that is important in terms of updating a process or procedure, but does not have the immediacy of an urgent message. For this reason a newsletter was chosen to inform schools of changes and amendments or things to be aware of, that do have an urgency attached to them. 2) Position in Process The newsletter is the method of transmission within the communication process. Written communication is the ability to use written language in a precise way in order to clearly express messages to the intended recipient. The messages must be clear and coherent and should be relevant to the subject area and of interest to the recipient or receiver.
