Illustration of Heroism: The Dark Knight Throughout history, people have expressed their idea of beauty through various types art. According to Dictionary.com, “art” means, “ The quality, production, expression, or realm, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.” Case in point there are many forms of art that include, music, acting, drawing, painting, and etc. Video game illustrators and designers create a lot of masterpieces with their vision to make characters appear real. David Hego is the head art director of perhaps the best video game and my favorite of all time, Batman: Arkham City. Once I bought this game and observed the detail and time him and his team went through to transform the Dark Knight character into an icon of video games. The reason why I am drooling over his artwork is the realistic features he adds. For instance, Batman is beating up and you can see scars, bruises, rips in his suit, sweat, blood, and emotion. One of the most sold video game series today are the Call of Duty games, a war game. Those games are realistic, but nothing compared to Hego's work. Growing a Huge Batman comic fan, David Hego's Batman games help bring my childhood to life. Imagine reading about your hero, whoever that may be, come to life right in front of your eyes. The affect on me is one of positivity and genuine happiness because I'm controlling the character I went for as Halloween four years straight. The shire greatness of the way the game looks shadows even the story and actually game play. Playing this game makes me feel like I'm in the game right next to Batman fighting bad guys with him. Slow motion shots of Batman jumping out of exploding buildings and seeing his face of desperation, the building falling apart behind him, glass sticking to his suit, the blood squirting out once the glass goes through his ribs gives me a sense
