Illegal Immigration Most of the undocumented immigrants in the U.S. are from Mexico according to this; 61% of the unauthorized population in 2008 was from Mexico; 14% from El Salvador, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, and Ecuador; 8% from India, Korea, China, and the Philippines; while 17% were from all other countries (http://immigration.procon.org/). Generally these immigrants live in the southwest area of the country; California had 25% of the total illegal alien population. Texas had 14%, Florida 7%, New York 6%, and Arizona 5% (http://immigration.procon.org/). This area is more common because it is close to the boarder and they are more likely to blend in with those around them. Some reasons why they have come here are because it isn’t safe
