It’s reality that a man and woman create a human life together and they both should have birth control options available to them at all times to make wise, informed decisions about bringing a life into the world. A second world view in favor of birth control is that it’s a win for taxpayers. When unplanned pregnancy occurs, it is cited that in the United States alone, the cost to taxpayers is 12 billion dollars a year. A large portion of that money goes toward providing health care for low income persons care through and after the birth of a child, through Medicaid. In 2008, 41% of births were covered by Medicaid, with an average cost of $12.631 per child/woman.
Illegal immigration has been an important and serious issue for decades; which affects everyone, both Americans and immigrants themselves. Illegal Immigration has three main purposes: first to find a better life in the “promise land”, second: free healthcare, and third: for criminal activity. Most illegal immigrants come to America with the best intentions for themselves and/or their families, but many others have alternative motives. The thing that must be remembered is that illegal immigration is illegal. It’s all in the name.
Mexico is one of our big illegal immigration problems we are faced with. But so far this is as much as we know of because of the only reports we have gotten and the numbers can and possibly be higher than the 11 million. The states of the U.S spend between usually 22 billion dollars a year to provide for welfare, medical, food stamps and education let alone. This money is not included by the SS (Social Security) and the Medicare that actually fund immigrant who have never worked a day in their life in the U.S! The reason for so many illegal aliens in our United States is because of how hard it can be
“A 2012 study in Obstetrics & Gynecolog yfound a woman's risk of dying from having an abortion is 0.6 in 100,000, while the risk of dying from giving birth is around 14 times higher (8.8 in 100,000).” (E.G. Raymond and D.A. Grimes, 2012) The fact that abortion is safe plays a large role in why so many people now believe that it should be legal and why it has become legal in so many places over the last 50 years. A recent study shows that women who are denied abortion are often are more likely to be become unemployed, to receive welfare, be below the poverty line and become victims of domestic violence. The study focused on women who were turned away from abortion because their baby was too far along and from the results they discovered that “76% of the "turnaways" ended up on unemployment benefits, compared with 44% of the women who had abortions.” These statistics oppose the question of if this is the best situation for the mother and the child.
The “Guttmacher Policy Review” reports that “abortion was listed as the official cause of death for almost 2,700 women in 1930.” (guttmacher.org) There were probably many more who did not show up in the statistics. They also point out that the death rate among women from abortion soared in Romania when the Ceausescu regime outlawed abortion in 1966 and dropped dramatically after Ceausescu was overthrown. (guttmacher.org) Making abortion illegal does not stop abortions and it ends up killing many women. Some countries like The Netherlands where abortion is free and legal have lower abortion rates than places like Peru where it is illegal.
There are 6.4 million pregnancies in the United States, 3 million are unplanned, and 2 million are unwanted. Those 2 million unwanted pregnancies include teenagers or girls that are in their twenties. Alternatives are offered to the mother of the unwanted child such as an abortion or adoption. About 120,000 children are put up for adoption each year and are adopted by strangers which is also called “stranger adoption”, but some babies are also adopted by relatives. Adoption is an opportunity for a child to have parents and a loving and caring family that can give them their needs and wants.
Some debates talk about citizenship, border security, driver's license, mass deportations, threats, economic burdens, and higher crime rates. For example, in America, 72% of legal citizens oppose allowing illegal immigrants the ability to obtain a driver's license (Miller). Other problems create disadvantages towards American citizens and workers, such as the Southwest seeing an increase in mass murders, sexual assaults, kidnappings, shootings, armed robberies, burglaries, and more, most being tied to illegal immigration (Greenblatt). These problems further drain public budgets and intensify competition for jobs, social services, and low-cost affordable housing because of the congestion in cities and towns that involve minorities, the homeless, everyday citizens, and both legal and illegal immigrants. Throughout the current wave of immigration, polls have consistently found that the public, at large, favors curbing immigration.
Illegal Immigration- A Problem at the U.S Borders Illegal immigration has been a problem at the U.S/Mexican border for years. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, in 2008 there were about 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States in 2008. One of the problems that are caused by this is that illegal aliens are getting jobs in America. These jobs that they are getting should be going to true Americans that are legal. Some people have been looking for a job for a long time, and the illegal immigrants are taking them.
Abortion- America at a Crossroads Americans are proud of their life of liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. But for thousands each year, that happiness comes at a deadly price. Each year about twenty- thousand unborn citizens are murdered. Unsafe abortions are a major cause of injury and death among women worldwide. Abortions result in approximately 70 thousand maternal deaths and 5 million disabilities per year globally.
Did you know that “[t]he United Nations estimates that 700,000 to 4 million women and children are trafficked around the world for purposes of forced prostitution…” (Human Trafficking: Facts & Figures). For hundreds of years there has been sex trafficking to billions of women and most people don’t know it’s going on. Sex trafficking is a huge problem in japan because the number of cases prosecuted if very few, because there are more women coming into japan, and because systems to protect the victims are not yet in place. There have been millions if women and girls being trafficked in Japan, but not a lot of them escape. There is around 500,000 to a million women being trafficked a year and a lot of them never get out.
