The Necessity of Sex in Ethics In this paper I will examine John Russons’s Bearing Witness to Epiphany and prove that his argument in the fourth chapter is that sexuality is essential in order for people to live ethically. Sexuality allows oneself to experience freedom by creating bonds with others that opens doors to new set of human values and ethics that would not be discovered otherwise. Erotic experiences allow one to truly experience the other person as an individual, which also allows one to discover oneself as person. This openness to the other individual in the erotic bond is the epiphany of the other, which is the foundation of ethics. Russon argues that sexuality is foundation of meaningfulness and a developed human life.
Michael Rucker sates in his article “9 Differenced Between the Male and Female Brain” that “Many men are sharply left-brain dominant, while women tend to be more evenly balanced between left and right-brain processing. Women are therefore thought to be slightly more intuitive, and sometimes better communicators. Men are often less socially adept, and are more task-oriented thinkers than females.” (Rucker). Young boys can be rough because of testosterone but they tend to overthink their actions and decide on the “‘fight or flight’” reaction and coming from someone who is young, I can vouch for this. Females, on the other hand, follow their gut feelings and their “female intuition” and employ the “‘tend or befriend’” strategy.
Bem argued that such individuals are more adaptable in different situations, have higher self-esteem and a greater awareness sense of emotional well being. Bem stressed that androgynous men and women have a different cognitive style from traditionally sexed- typed people because an androgynous person when faced with a decision about how to behave responds independently of any gender concept whereas a traditionally sex-typed person determines what would be appropriate from their gender using gender schemas. Supporting the idea that there is a link between androgyny and flexibility, Bem found that masculine and androgynous individuals showed lower levels of conformity than feminine women. However, these findings are not really surprising. The Male scale on the BSRI measure assertiveness and resisting pressures to conform, and the Female scale measures femininity in terms of nurturance and expressive traits.

Final Project Personal Response on Sexual Identity PSY/265 A person’s sexual identity may seem like something obvious, something that we should innately know, However as we have learned, these things are not always so simple, often finding that sexual identity, much like most of life, is a thousand shades of grey. In this regard, I have given my own identity some thought and I find for me it was easy, although perhaps to most it was not. In this essay I will be discussing my own identity and my reasons for coming to the conclusions that I have come to, and why I came to them. (Rathus, Nevid, & Fichner-Rathus, 2005) My values growing up were a bit inconsistent to say the least, and it led to a bit of confusion growing up. My parents were not religious when I was young and many of my family members were atheists so, I did not initially have much guidance in that regards.
It is important to note that Junot Diaz covers a large variety of races, and his inclusion of many types of people shows a consistent trend of unjustified labels. In addition, when he gives suggestions on how to approach women he exemplifies the restrictions of stereotyping and to the culture which people come from, this causes him to fall into a role gender
These struggles are hardly far from over. American Gender roles and sexism can be defined as a social identity consisting of a role a person is to play because of their sex. There is a variety in male and female roles, making it impossible to define gender by the term male and female. Gender is defer significantly by culture to culture.
