Identify two reports on serious failures to protect individuals from abuse Abuse can happen anywhere and at any time , it is more often to happen to vulnerable people ie. children , elderly people , people with disabilities or people with learning difficulties. it can even happen in the places where you think they are most safe ie. hospital , nursing / residential homes , schools , nurseries. I researched two cases reported for abuse the Winterbourne case and Hillcroft nursing home.
No matter what Tijuana’s job was at the hospital, she went into personal, confidential records and obtained damaging information. She then took that information and shared it with others. Complete violation of privacy. She had no right to not only snoop in his records but then to spread it around work. She should have been fired from both places of employment and should have had to pay for her ignorance.
They had pulled patients’ hair and forced medication into their mouths. In the footage victims were shown screaming and shaking and one patient was seen trying to jump from a second floor window just to escape the torment and torture. The patient was then mocked by staff members. The abuse was reviewed by a psychologist who described the footage as torture. This had left a massive impact on the public resulting to 86 people and organisations writing to the Prime Minister about revelations.
The Deanery an Essex care home was under investigation by BBC panorama which found residents being neglected and mistreated, An undercover reporter filmed one woman with dimentia who was mocked and slapped by staff, Also another resident with a terminal illness who needed the toilet and was ignored despite her cries for assistance, One man with a chronic illness was left lying in his own excrement. Peoples privacy and dignity and independance were not being met in this report, a man was left in his own excrement (this is abuse) And one woman was being mocked by staff and slapped (this is abuse) There is concerns about the quality of care planning, Unacceptable long waits for call bells to be answered and a lack of suitably skilled staff.
Report A – Two support workers were moving a service user from a bed to a chair using a hoist. They placed the hoist sling underneath the service user and then attached it to the hoist. Whilst the hoist was stationary one of the support workers turned away to pick up the service users slippers and as a result the service user fell forward out of the sling to the ground. The service user suffered bruising and a cut to their head and an ambulance was called. The service user spent 10 days in the local hospital but sadly passed away.

She had I total 128 separate injuries to her tiny body. Despite being known to the local Social services and being taken to hospital various times, the system that was set up to protect her, let her down. Who should of protected her?
