From introduction of telecommunication services in the country the telecommunication industry was run by the defunct Kenya Posts and telecommunication company until the late nineties when the Gorvernment privatized the telecommunications sector. The Communications Commission of Kenya is the the regulatory body for the sector and was established by the Kenya Communication Act 1998.
