Sacrifice was something that I had to learn to tolerate when returning to school. Spending time with my family became less of a benefit that I once enjoyed and that many take for granted. Sleep deprivation and personal time was also something that returning to school had an impact on. Study habits are difficult to maintain and focus, due to my children wanting my attention non-stop. My parents support in this process has been a blessing as they’ve taken much of the burden therefore providing peaceful nights and lessening some of the stormy days.
This is particularly important for kids who are home alone for a few hours every day after school, as school sponsored activities will help children to stay occupied and will keep their minds actively engaged. If your kids are old enough to work for a few hours after school each day, encourage them to get a job. This will not only keep them busy and prevent them from feeling bored, it will also take up a pretty healthy amount of time which they might otherwise spend mindlessly hanging out with their friends or getting involved in something that you would prefer they
I believe that now is the time to change our educational system as we know it for the benefit of teachers, students and their parents! Our current system allows us to have one long drawn out break and other small inconsistent days off, while a year-round system gives students and teachers frequent days off. These days off are just that, no need to name it an official holiday. A year-round schedule gives the students and faculty a chance to reset and regenerate often. I think when it comes to breaks we can all agree we can all use a long weekend from time to time, lately with all the stresses in the world a frequent break may be need much more often than not!
The lack of on site childcare causes many people to miss work with the odd schedules we worked which required many working late into the evening and on weekends. One of my sources stated, “Today many businesses face recruitment and retention issues, asking how to attract and keep the best and brightest. For some, on-site childcare is a valuable employee benefit as well as a sound business decision. It is important for a business to think about its responsibility to understand the family issues faced by its workforce as well as the larger issues.” (“On site child,”) This benefit would be greatly appreciated by the employees who a parents of small children. It’s only logical for our center to implement the on site child care since it is currently in many of the Verizon call centers nationwide.
New beginnings also meant bidding farewell to parts of my life and, as always, you had taken the time to write a few words to help me along the way. “If I knew being here with you today would mean being alone tomorrow, I would gladly trade all of my tomorrows away for a moment here with you” resonated as an anthem to appreciate the time spent every day with loved ones, as there was no way to go back and retrieve my “tomorrows” (Brown Eyed Blues, Harper). But life was not only about struggling and moving on, and “Mama’s Trippin’”, “When It’s Good”, and “Steal My Kisses” served as the perfect reminder to enjoy the silly moments. It was important to remember that “when it’s good, it’s oh so good, but when it’s gone, it’s gone” kept me grounded and appreciative of all the good days (When It’s Good,
The things that I like about joining the summer school online of year 2011 was being able to go on whenever you want as long as you have 24 hours a week. I personally love it because I can still wakeup late and enjoy my morning and do school work for a few hours, then go do things during the day and at night get thee other hours finish. I can actually enjoy my summer instead of staying in Lake Elsinore . Another Example, why online summer school was a good idea this year was because students do not have to go to school and stay there all day. Kids to get tired and some can not focus for six whole hours straight.
Everything was new and exciting. However, as time passed by, I felt really lonely and started missing my friends really bad. That is certainly the worst part about moving to another country: your social life gets really affected by that. I was always an easy person to become friends with, so I thought that wouldn’t be a problem for me here, but unfortunately I was wrong. I have lots of friends in Brasilia, and we used to hang out every weekend, and when we had nothing to do, they’d come over to my place so we could watch movies and play some games.
I’m more tardy than absent but when I am absent it’s either due to an appointment of some sort or it involves a family dilemma, in which missing school is the appropriate choice. I would say there isn’t much I can do at this time to improve my attendance. I think I could ask most of the staff and student body around Legacy about my behavior and personality and there would be nothing but positive things to say. It is like that everywhere go because I am exceptionally mature for my age an I’m respectful. Something that I’ve accomplished at Legacy this year that I’m proud of is the poem I wrote about the problems I was having at home.
You only have so much time in a day and when you are a mother attending college and working there are sacrifices you are going to have to make to be more efficient; such as your friends, money, and your youth. I love hanging out with my friends and including them in my life but I realize, given my circumstances that I just can’t be with them all the time like in high school. I tell my friends that it’s part of growing up, they fully understand and support me and planning a study night together is a great way to make your time with one another more valuable. Saving money is an essential part of being able to balance out my bills, pay for all my books for college, and taking care of my children’s needs. Just like many other people in the world I live paycheck to paycheck but I have learned that putting back as little as five dollars out of check and keeping all your change will help you out more than you think.
He said the main was the humor throughout the day. He said in no other job would he be able to joke around as much as he does during teaching. Another reason he enjoyed teaching was the summer break. He really enjoyed being off work the same time as his kids. He said because he was a teacher he was able to hang out with his wife and kids more than he would if he was in another job.
