In Charlie’s conditions, even a rabbit stew or a warm water bath was to be looked forward to on a Saturday night and warmth was from the ‘…pieces of fallen bark’ which he gathers from Mr Peacock. The protagonist was in an unfortunate and dreary state at the start of the novel. The idea of Runner being referred to as a sulky novel is also highlighted by the minor characters that were mentioned. From the beginning of Cosi Nick and Lucy seem to shape Lewis’ views politically as well as his moral beliefs surrounding “free love.” Working with the patients changes Lewis’ outlook on fidelity and pulls him away from his friend’s mentalities. As a result Nick and Lucy attempt to pressure Lewis to go to “moratorium meetings,” to do a “piece of theatre that is meaningful such as Brecht” and to choose between “the funny farm” or their “radicalisation of the nation.”This highlights how Roy is not the only manipulator in the play. When Lucy questions Lewis’ priorities and his choice to do an opera about love, “an emotional indulgence for the privileged few,” Lewis highlights how “love and fidelity are important things.” His rejection of Nick and Lucy’s beliefs, further strengthens how their manipulations of Lewis have been ultimately unsuccessful. Therefore Nowra shows the audience how even though a person may try to manipulate other characters in Cosi depending on the matter they are passionate about, it may not always

Tragic deaths- powerful, dreadful, and unfortunate, in many cases it comes in like a wrecking ball. William Shakespeare, author of Romeo and Juliet, tells a story of two star-crossed lovers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Set in Verona, Italy, this pair of ill-fated lovers cannot openly show their affection for each other because their families had been feuding for many generations past. Juliet’s nurse, Friar Lawrence, and Lord Capulet, are the three people most liable for the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Though not completely responsible, the nurse contributed more or less to the death of the misfortunate lovers.

An example of this is when Juliet becomes desperate to the point of suicidal and she goes to meet the town priest and confidante - Father Laurence; acting as the person who solves or tries to solve people’s problems within this town he tells Juliet of his plans to prevent her marriage to Paris. When Juliet screams ‘be so long to speak, I long to die’ this reveals her despair of the idea of having life without Romeo (who at that time was exiled). The priest who tries to
