Policies like Safeguarding children ensure that the right procedures are in place to protect children. All staff working within the school should be trained on the correct procedures for safeguarding children. Anti-bullying policies are in place in school to ensure the children know that bullying is not acceptable behaviour but a child should feel confident enough to report an incident if one occurs and should know who they can go to within the school to discuss any such situations.
If they feel emotionally secure they are more likely to participate in the play and learning activities. Children need to have a strong relationship with the staff to feel comfortable and secure this will help them to enjoy themselves and less likely to show unwanted behaviour. It is important for adults to ensure that they have effective communication with their students; this will help keep the children comfortable and will also gain their trust. Without trust and honesty the children may feel like you are unapproachable and may keep their problems and worries to themselves and this may affect their learning. It is important that children are made aware of what is expected of them within school with regards to their behaviour and interacting with others.
There is a strict rule that needs to be followed concerning children being picked up from school and if parents cannot pick their children up, meaning someone else picking them up, the school needs to know to avoid any risks of child abduction. Children wait in the school entrance following after school activities, until the correct person arrive to collect the pupil. The duties of supervisory staff e.g. Teaching Assistants are to make themselves familiar with the H+S Act and any other safety issues relevant to their area of work. The School treats Health and Safety seriously, from the playground to the classrooms, the people in the setting are made aware of the risks and told that possible risks are also laminated and put on the walls as an extra reminder of any risks there may be.
Encouraging and establishing student self-control through a process of promoting positive student achievement and behavior is what every classroom needs. Classroom rules and procedures should be established with students the first week of school. Each student should have full understanding and be aware of what is expected of him/her. Providing a safe learning environment where students can participant is a key factor in classroom management. A student needs to feel comfortable with themselves, others, and the teacher, so there can be meaningful discussion and interactions.
Describe how you might react to incidents of bullying and violence? All signs of bullying or violence should be taken seriously, reported and logged with the teacher or other school staff. It is also essential to act upon this behaviour quickly and correctly to minimize the possibility of it happening again in the future. The schools policies and rules are regularly reinforced by the school staff to the children in their classrooms, in assemblies and around the school. During Anti-bullying week the school will have special assemblies to demonstrate the types of bullying and how children can report this behaviour.

Make sure you read every students Risk Assessment file and you are familiar with their background before they start. This is very important when wanting to establist and maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for the students, especially when dealing with At-Risk students and students with Mental and Physical Disabilities. So you are able to meet their personal needs.
Trained teachers will automatically know the types of measures to use incase a student exhibits a certain undesirable behavior. These measures will ensure that students behave in an appropriate manner and their performance is excellent. They will also make sure that the relationship and interaction between them and their students is healthy therefore building a favorable learning environment. They should be in a favorable condition to notice various problems that individual students go through, advice, keep close watch and offer valid solutions. For a school to be the best place to mould good behavior and emotions, it needs to have consistent rules and consequences in case an individual breaks them.
We have age limits and restriction on many things, but why does are education system expect these young kids to make the right choices, ask for help and develop good study habits on their own. Our education system needs a new approach to resolve these issues. Teachers and parents need to be held responsible, for how well these kids do in school. We need come up with a new plan so these students aren’t left lost and helpless. Flunking students can be used as a positive tool by our education system.
For example a child may not want to be friends with someone in their class any more, they may not enjoy being in their company and want to play with other children instead. We can support the child in ending this friendship by helping them explore their thoughts and feelings, talking to them about why they feel they should end it, what would be the pros and cons of ending it and how they plan to do so. By talking it through with a child care worker the child will be supported and informed so as they can make the best possible choice for themselves. When talking to the child we can show them support by ensuring they know that no matter their reasons for wanting to end the relationship that they will not be judged and that you are there for them no matter which decision they choose to make. There may come a time when we ourselves as child care workers need support in helping the child to end a relationship.
