Chemistry “I Caught Fire in Chem Class” Reflective Essay Have you ever had an experience that changed the way you viewed life? Some may say no and others may say yes. Well this article has changed the way I view life personally. In the article a sixteen year old girl caught fire accidently in her chemistry class while her teacher was conducting an experiment. Never in my mind would I have imagined that you can catch on fire at school, where it is suppose to be a safe place. But it seems you can. However, reading this aricle changed how I view life as mentioned above. It made me notice that all the things I thought were very important are not. For example, how I look, how I dress, how people think of me, and many other things. The article showed me that all that I cared about is less important than my family, friends, and loved ones. It also helped me realized that the saying “you never know what you have until it’s gone” shouldn’t be taken for granted and it is important to value what you have. While reading this article, I realized that chemistry and safety rules for the class should not be taken lightly. Rather to be taken very seriously and follow every rule given to preserve my safety and the ones of my classmates. From the article, it is obvious that accidents do occur and in the least place you suspect. Accidents definitly can occur in Chemistry class and it is important to be careful . In the article, the accident occurred by mistake. The teacher had already conducted the experiment once and everything was okay. Then the second time around something went wrong the jug fell out of the teachers hand. Then the jug landed on the floor and it sprayed the girl in the face causing her to catch on fire. She was rushed to the hospital immediately and taken care of. Showing me that in chemistry class we are going to used dangerous chemicals. So we shouldn’t mess
