I am writing this paper on my personal experience of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac. Tropical Storm Isaac developed in the area around Cuba and the Dominic Republic. At that time it was a tropical depression, however only for a short time. It slowly formed in to the hurricane it is today(8/28/12)but I'll get in to that in just a little bit. It first hit Cuba then the Dominic Republic then Haiti; where they still hadn't gotten back on their feet after the storm in 2010. It was a weak tropical storm at that time but the winds were still pretty strong; 65 miles per hour. Once it got past those countries, Tropical Storm Isaac was projected to head towards the Key West area of Florida, then was supposed to fizzle out to a tropical depression.…show more content…
My in-laws have also been calling and texting me. Mind you, the storm is far from over in my area. Around lunchtime today, the weather channel said that Hurricane Isaac had been downgraded back to a tropical storm. I live on a military installation; well the MP's also known as the Military Police have been patrolling like crazy. No one is allowed outside after 7pm because we still don't have any power. It could take up to a full week or longer before power is fully restored. Monday, September 1, 2012, the power was finally restored on the base and to most of the town. With the power restored people started cleaning up after this Hurricane that sat on us for two very long days. I personally only had to clean an oven and a freezer, and to pick up some debris that blew into my backyard. Here it is, October 19th, 2012 and I still have water damage to my house. The housing manager has stated that it could take the rest of the year and possibly into 2013 to fix all the the damaged houses here on the base. So pretty much everything is back to normal. The Hurricane was bad but not as bad as it could have been. I mean it could have been worst. But thankfully it was not. Hurricane Isaac is now a thing in the past that I will always
