After killing a living animal we both experienced a strange sense of guilt and shame. While we were aware of our intentions to murder an innocent animal, we felt the remorseful and somewhat regretful after the deed was done. Prior to this experience I realize that I do not have the hunting mentality as Bass does. He knows he is aware that he is a predator and lives to hunt and eat the meat of his prey, just as a natural predator does. I, on the other hand, like to eat meat and would rather not think of the animal that had to be killed in order to get it.
Without animals for testing, where would our lives be going? Maybe, we will have a lot more diseases. First of all, the author claims that we humans have been killing animals for survival and the progress depends on our ability to kill animals. We eat them when we need food and we use them for testing to find new medicine. I found the story very difficult to support, mainly because of the way he stereotyped animal rights.
Most people shudder at the thought or sight of a Pit Bull and consider them vicious atrocities, but I will show that Pit Bulls are innocent and really are just misunderstood. I would like to give some facts, dispel some myths, and show the side of the breed that the media chooses not to tell. American Pit Bull Terriers were first introduced during World War I and World War II. The job of the Pit Bull was to deliver messages back and forth across the battlefield. Pit Bulls were first bred to bait bulls and bears as a sport back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but soon became more commonly used as house pets due to their friendliness towards people (Brom, 1987-09, p.14).
Most at that time poached to stay alive by using the meat and hides. In the present day some people still poach just to stay alive but the main concern is the taking of trophy size animals. The horns of and big buck or bull sell for exceptionally high prices. This is a big concern for the animals and for the people who depend on their existence for survival. Colorado has had one of the biggest problems with poaching.
The Growling, howling, and snarling sounds that haunted my dreams as a child are still the sounds I think of when the conversation turns to wolves. The growling, howling, and snarling I’m referring to isn’t coming from wolves but the people fighting for and against the repopulation of the species. So what’s the truth about wolf reintroduction? Why is there such a heated debate? One side of the argument states they were hunted to the brink of extinction for a reason, the other side praising this majestic animal for its ability to live and thrive in the face of such adversity.
At that mental age, they would not have been able to handle reality. One may say that it is sinful to end a life in general, however what George did was a truly good action by sending Lennie to a better place instead of receiving torture from Curley, a very abusive and cruel man to Lennie. A good example that is similar to this is when Candy had to make the decision to end the life of his dog. Many workers disliked Candy’s dog because it was elderly and smelled horrendous, therefore wanted it dead. Like George, Candy only wanted his dog dead to prevent it from enduring the suffering that they both face from oppressors.
I chose this quote because it tells us that killing animals happens faster than someone gathering knowledge. Next, this book relates to society because many animals in the world are becoming endangered today. An example of this is the Bonobos from the book. Also, there are many problems in the world today just like the war in Congo. Around the world there are Army’s like the one in this book, that do not care what they are shooting at or killing, even if it is a poor animal that has done nothing wrong.
The killing of animals is what human kind did in the beginning of time for food, because they didn’t have ovens, or local stores. So they had to make fire and put their hunted food on it. All of this could happen after an apocalypse, which happened in the story. The end of time is something that’s definitely not wanted. It is very much feared also.
Drugging animals is too costly. The reason why meat is cheap as it is now is because they don’t pay for drugs to give animals painless deaths, but instead the animals are forced dealing with massive pain to keep the consumers happy. Just like how, “Hutu started killing with guns and grenades. But because they were so expensive, they later turned into machetes, clubs and hands for killing”, leaving anyone a brutal, slow and painful death. This is what animals go through, all day every
