I also like to learn, my second reason to continue my education. In the society we are living in right now a higher education is a necessity and it is an investment for a better future. Steinberg argues that college degrees are not necessary for many jobs and that some high school graduates are better prepared by being taught how to communicate and work efficiently in the work place. I agree with it
His first example of logos is that if people did their job and only their job things would go a lot better, he also states that a person should not confuse their academic obligations with their personal beliefs. This statement makes a lot of sense because a person that is doing their job and only their job will do what the job has them to do and not what they believe they should do. He continues in the paragraph academics should interpret the world not try to change it. Another example of logos in this paragraph is when it comes to people that are academics on voting like “curriculum, department leadership, the direction of research, the content and manner of teaching” (p.175). This is building on to what he said earlier about doing your job and your job only, if you vote on stuff that deal with you will see stuff to start to get better.
Entering the Conversation: The center of the universe There is no denying the value of an education. David Foster Wallace presents to us the idea that education is not "teaching us how to think" but "being conscious of and aware enough to choose what you pay attention to and to choose how you construct meanin+ g from experience"(358). Education is what puts a white spot on a black wall. To stand against others who choose to ignore the present, to rise above like a phoenix out of the ashes. It does not have to be in a classroom, it could be just from life experiences that help us move forward and become better and stronger people.

Dai Phan Ann Modzelewski English 101 12/3/14 The various Viewpoints regarding Education funding In the words of Josh Freedman, “higher education is viewed, as great equalizer that leads to social mobility. But selective colleges have long been accused of perpetuating class divides, rather than blurring them” (Freedman 1). Education is a key institution in today’s society. Education since history has been used as the tool for the eradication of poverty that translates to a better future prospect for the students. For many years education was viewed as the greatest equalizer in achieving society’s expectations of life.
I. INTRODUCTION The origins of humanistic psychology can be traced as far back as the middle ages when the philosophy of humanism was born. The basic belief of this philosophy is that every person has worth and the right to achieve self-realization through reason and rational thought. The early humanism movement began in 15th century Europe as a protest against the closed-minded religious dogma of the church's scholars and philosophers. Modern humanistic psychology emerged in about the mid-1950s as a reaction by clinical psychologists, social workers, and counselors against behaviorism and psychoanalysis.
nurture is really about which is more important. No credible observer would deny that who we become as adults is influenced by both our genetic makeup and the environment in which we matured. (Nature vs. Nurture, 2006) In my opinion I think that children are more likely to grow up as respectable adults being part of a nurturing environment. I feel that if they grow up in a loving family that they in turn will become more loving adults. That if the parents are an active part of their lives they will do better in school, excel in their chosen professions and that they will be more likely to raise children who will do as
Nathan Wheatley Eng 1010 11/10/11 Raised to be Lowered: The American Education System What does it mean to be educated? What does it mean to learn? Why do we, as humans, continue to pursue education? These are the questions I’ve come to contemplate as I reminisced about the way I was raised and prepared for the future here in America. I realized that my education; given that I was raised in a peaceful society, without threat of war, or starvation, or disease, should have served me much better.
