Human resource management is the management of an organization's workforce, or human resources. It is responsible for the attraction, selection, training, assessment, and rewarding of employees, while also overseeing organizational leadership and culture, and ensuring compliance with employment and labour laws. I found that the most valuable lesson in Human Resource Management is Human Resource Planning. Human Resource Planning is the on-going process of systematic planning to achieve optimum use of an organization's most valuable asset - its human resources. The objective of human resource (HR) planning is to ensure the best fit between employees and jobs, while avoiding manpower shortages or surpluses. The three key elements of the HR planning process are forecasting labour demand, analysing present labour supply, and balancing projected labour demand and supply. The HR plan needs to be flexible enough to meet short-term staffing challenges, while adapting to changing conditions in the business and environment over the longer term. Human resource planning is also a continuous process. I found that this is the most valuable lesson to me because it is very important. Human resource planning is important because it helps in determining the number to be employed in a new location, retaining highly skilled staff, managing an effective downsizing programme and determining where the next generation of managers will come from. This module would benefit me a lot in my future career/undertakings. First of all, I will start with job analysis. Job analysis is critical to an organization and is valuable for a number of reasons. Job analyses are very important in helping employer specify the specific duties, responsibilities and physical requirements that can document job performance and help ensure legal compliance and human resource decisions.
