Human Resource Management Roles HCS 341 March 11, 2013 Deidra Johnson Human Resource Management Roles Introduction Human resource management (HRM) is simply the management of an organization’s workforce. All organization need and should have human resource management. No matter how big or small or whether the organization is for-profit or non-profit, the human resource department is vital to the organizations success. There are many roles associated with human resource management. The functional roles are staffing and recruitment, training and career development, performing evaluations, providing compensation and benefits, employee rights, and employee separations. Staffing and Recruitment Staffing and recruitment is a very important function of human resource management. Hiring the right people and putting them in the right positions for their abilities and skills is crucial to the success and efficiency of any organization (Stringer, 2013). Human resource management is responsible for recruiting, selecting, and socializing employees (Gomez, Balkin, & Cardy, 2010). Training and Career Development Human resource management is responsible for training and career development. HRM has to be able to provide training to a diverse group of individuals, as well as, do their best to make sure that employees are properly trained with the organizations policies and procedures before they enter the workforce. HRM is also there to help current employees develop a career or make the decision to hire someone from outside of the organization, which will require them to provide the resources for proper training (Gomez, Balkin, & Cardy, 2010). Performance Evaluation Performance evaluations are an important role in human resource management.
