For this discussion I will be talking about brain tumors. A brain tumor occurs when abnormal cells form within the brain. There are two main types of tumors, such as; malignant or cancerous tumors and benign tumors. Cancerous tumors can be divided into primary tumors that started within the brain and those that spread from the brain metastasis tumors. There are a lot of different causes and symptoms of brain tumors that depend on the volume of the tumor and where the tumor is located in the brain. All types of brain tumors all have different symptoms that vary in many different ways. Such as, headaches, seizures, problem with vision, vomiting, and mental changes. Symptoms of neoplasms of the brain can be divided into three main categories, which are known as Consequences of intracranial hypertension, these symptoms usually occur when large tumors or tumors with extensive perifocal swelling inevitably lead to elevated intracranial pressure. This can cause symptoms like headaches, vomiting, and consciousness. The second main symptom of neoplasms is, Dysfunction, this symptom depends of the tumors location, and the damage the tumor has caused to the surrounding brain structures. This can cause impaired judgment, memory loss, and lack of recognition, spatial orientation disorders, personality, or emotional changes, impaired sense of smell, impaired hearing, double vision, dizziness. The third symptom of neoplasm is Irritation, which can cause abnormal fatigue, weariness, absences and tremors, and epileptic seizures. Causes of brain tumors other than the vinyl chloride or ionizing radiation, there are really no known environmental factors associated with brain tumors. People with various inherited diseases, such as Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome, multiple endocrines neoplastic, neurofibromatosis type 2 are at high risk of developing brain tumors.
