The issue of pro-life versus pro-choice has been debated for centuries and each stance being defended with valid points. The definition of abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo before viability. The conflict is aborting a fetus, with a right to live, is the same as killing a human being while other groups claim that women have certain reproductive rights and bear the right to decide whether or not to have the baby. The act itself has been practiced for quite some time with the first recorded abortion around 1550 B.C. Even during that era, there was still debate as to when a human life was actually formed. Congress regularly visits the topic with an appointed official looking to pass a statute that either overturns or places restrictions on abortion. However, those referendums are usually overturned.
