I greatly care for the elderly & disabled and am concerned with their care. I am obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration Long-Term Care from the University of Phoenix. This degree will prepare me to manage a long-term care facility to include facilities servicing older individuals or those with moderate to severe cognitive or physical disabilities.
The first thing I did when I decided to earn a college degree was to do my own research. I followed many steps in order to make my interest a reality. I had to choose an appropriate school to fit my needs and that offered a full degree program that was tailored to my interest. Then I visited University of Phoenix and found all of the above to be true. I ask questions to find out everything I could so I would make an educated guess. Second, I asked family and friends for their opinion on my findings. I will want to have them on my side for their support and to make them feel they can each help me achieve my educational goals. All of these steps will help to ensure my future employment with a career that makes me happy. My happiness may help my family to be even happier.
In order to gain future employment in a long-term are healthcare professions I need to gain experience by first working in a healthcare administration department. I will need to learn everything I can including healthcare management, finance and accounting, legal & ethical parameters, patient laws and health and disease factors. I must be able to have the needed experience and appropriate employer/employee communication skills to effectively run and manage a facility. It is extremely important I am the effect leader of a group of team players as successful leaders have an understanding of how much employee learns best. My experience and classes earning this degree will provide the needed knowledge for my field, as well as numerous team project activities to help me manage groups and learn more about people.
