All of the applicable provisions of the FMLA were adequately met for this particular employee. FMLA grants twelve weeks of unpaid time off and guarantees that the employee will then be able to return to the same job at the same rate of pay. FMLA provisions do not require paid time off as a mandatory action for the company; therefore, the employee cannot expect the company to pay eleven weeks of withheld salary and the company has not violated any FMLA rules by denying that specific request. Situation B: It is apparent the 68-year-old employee is performing his work duties adequately. The employee has an above average rating; therefore, it cannot be argued that his age is affecting his quality of work.

AMT2 – Service Line Development - Task 3 Kasey Clark A. Trends – National Healthcare Trends and Policy Initiatives Healthcare has changed rapidly in this millennium. I have been in Medical Records, Billing and Collections in Healthcare since 1989 and have seen many changes. Trinity Community Hospital is not immune to changes in healthcare nor is any other facility. An overall trend that needs to be altered is the fact that the patients that I have spoken with feel that the pharmaceutical and insurance companies have excessive amounts of power that causes their physicians to act in the pharmacy and insurance carriers’ best interest instead of the patient.
There is no enrollment fee for the member and his/her family. There is no fee for doctor visits. Appointments are guaranteed. In recent years patients started to look into other directions, since predictions for limiting expenses faded. Managed Care I believe can be bad for healthcare providers. With this said what exactly is Managed Care??? Managed Care is a system of health care that commands cost of services, manages the use of services, and measures the use of services, and measures the performance of health care suppliers. On an international foundation, the development of health care policy is aggressively being influenced by cost considerations.
My privilege was obviously revealed in that I flew to the Rez, flew to Michigan for a family fishing vacation, and flew back; I owned a full suitcase of clothes, my mom bought me new shoes just for the summer, I had a mom, I had a dad, my parents aren’t alcoholics, they love me, they don’t abuse me...I could go on forever. But I also had privilege in that I was fully accepted by whatever group I chose to be a part of. I would hope that my friends who were native didn’t just become my friend because they felt obligated to, but I can see how that could easily be the case. As a “service provider,” community members couldn’t really show a dislike for me because they had to appear grateful. As a summer long intern, team members couldn’t reject me because they were under my authority.
Brenda, one of the coders had been noticing many time that Dr. Gottrocks detailed procedure records are completed when they arrive and feels that there’s something fishy going on. Brenda decided to get a rundown of a certain patient’s dictated report after surgery from a coworker in the surgery department one day and wait to compare it to Dr. Gottrocks completed records when they are turned in. Just as she thought, Dr. Gottrocks has been abusing the trust of doctor/patient relationship by listing higher level procedures that hasn’t been preform. Dr. Gottrocks has been committing fraud, scheming patients and insurance companies but his license can be taken away or suspended. This type of practicing cannot continue, patients could become ineligible and dropped from their insurance, the hospital can suffer lawsuits for falsifying document and falsely charging patients and insurance.
