Role of an HR practitioner 6-2-12 MGT 580 Mac McBride The role of HR Practitioner can be very tricky. After all I basically just graduated from college and with this job market and recession still is process I found myself in the Situation of the HR shoes. I did of course major in Human resources and had grand ideas of what I could achieve once I got my feet wet. So I did what every student does, I gained experience by working in the environment of my chosen career. Atlas I got a job in the HR department. Not bad right starting salary ranging from $46,000-$48,000 especially just being fresh out of college. So I begin my job as and HR Practitioner. Why can't I get the raise or a increase in pay? How come the annual increase didn't happen, but the cost of insurance increased? Why don't we have a retirement plan or better yet some type of assistance for retirement. What is happening with the retirement where did it go? You cannot work 20 years now and retire and live comfortably. Everything has been cut and nothing has been replaced. We see 65 year old people still holding down 45 hour weeks and their chasing that 2 year mark. You get so close to taste it and its lifted 2 more years. When is it going to be enough? These are just some of the troubling matters that make my job very stressful. Employees look at me as evil. Why do you continue to change the rules and regulations the employees ask? I never really thought much about HR departments until after the article "WHY I HATE HR" but its starting to make sense. A person is hired to do a job and they do what they have to do. Doesn't matter how it effects the actual employee or what it does to their family. They are carrying out orders that have been set in place and that is just the way it is. I
