1. What is the most important human resource planning issue facing business today? The most important human resource planning issue facing business today is ethics. Businesses must use ethical behavior in every decision they make affecting the HR plan and the organization as a whole. Businesses should be aware of any ethical or unethical behavior conducted through human resources processes such as recruitment, selection, employment, retention, compensation, and training and development. According to (Scott , 2013), “Human resources personnel are charged with setting standards that promote ethical behavior in the workplace.” Unethical behaviors during human rescources planning include but are not limited to discrimination and harassment, privacy abuse, diversity, and safety (Scott , 2013). 2. Why is job analysis so important to human resources planning? - Job analysis is so important to human resources planning because job analysis data is practically used in all human resource functions including recruiting, training and development, employee compensation, job design, etc. Job analysis also helps avoid legal issues by defining job tasks and justifying the employer’s selection process. And last but not least, job analysis if employed properly can enhance communication within the organization (Ratzburg, 2009). 3. Assume that you are an HR staff member conducting a job analysis in the construction industry. You have encountered several supervisors and a few managers who want to delete certain essential job functions and work conditions from a rigger's job description that are related to employee safety (e.g., lifting requirements, hazardous operating environment).
