Music, Film, and Cartoon “Music and art are similar concepts as they are both trying to explain and express ideas through abstract mediums” (Gilbert, 2007). The similarities of these two are that they are creative and can be understood in many different ways. Almost all arts forms are influenced by music in many different ways. Film is one of the arts forms that are influenced by music. Music makes a film, a movie as well as an animated cartoon more interesting by bring out audiences’ emotion, introducing and setting a tone of a movie, dictating characters’ action, and misleading audiences.
Film Theory debates the essence of cinematic value and provides conceptual frameworks for understanding a film’s relationship to reality, the other arts, individual viewers, and society at large. In order to successfully approach film criticism it is important to examine several theories. It is important to keep in mind that, “no critical approach can tell us everything about a film but, rather, different approaches can teach us different things about a film” (Luhr, Lehman 80). First and foremost, films are perceived in terms of their narrative structure. When discussing a film, audiences will recall its story line or characters to exemplify what the film was about.
In the 1920s structured order meant filmmakers followed an unwritten set of rules that determined plots, protagonists and the genre of successful films. Vertov was part of a movement called the Kinoks who challenged original cinematic techniques that the extremely controlled cinema industry followed. The Man with the Movie Camera is a perfect example of a film that has broken free of conventions and challenged the walls of cinema. This essay will analyse the use of editing in creating meaning and how important it is. As well as assessing Vertov’s beliefs and drive to make such a film.
Domino This paper will through an analysis and discussion examine the stylistics aspects of the movie “Domino” by Tony Scott. Amongst these stylistic aspects, the dominant focus will lie upon mise-en-scene; sound and editing. First of all, the light- and colouring effects of Domino are observed to have a prominent appearance in the general expression of the movie, which shows that Tony Scott’s cinematography evidently constitutes a primary constituent of his artistic style, thus an analysis of mise-en-scène seems to be a reasonable element to investigate .The study will take part in 3 different scenes, where we will examine the stylistics aspects of the movie. The important part of Mise-en-Scene analysis is not just to identify the components within a shot. Our study will explain and interpret the meaning or the significance behind those components, and by then try to connect the shot to the themes of the film.
The Culture Industry and A Walk to Remember Adam Shankman’s A Walk to Remember has proved to be a favorite of audiences across the country. The movie’s legitimacy as something artistic, however, is bound to be questioned by some. As a part of the film industry, A Walk to Remember provides good means to explore the true motives of the culture industry using the opposing views of Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer and Gerald Graff. Theorists Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer would see this movie as nothing more than a new spin on the same old story. Gerald Graff, on the other hand, would commend A Walk to Remember as an art form that gives rise to many debates and arguments about the movie and that gives viewers a chance to prove their intellectualism outside of the academic realm.
German Expressionist films and Surrealist films are on the same page when it comes to the use of bold images and the unexpected. However, they vary when it boils down to the approaches they use to achieve this goal. In order to understand how these two movements captivated their audience, it is first best to examine how these two movements contrast each other. German Expressionism exploded with artistic activity that “followed the fall of the Kaiser and the founding of the Weimar Republic; making itself felt in all the arts, especially the cinema” (Mast, 2012). The dominating presence of German Expressionism was made possible through the movement’s exaggeration of mise-en-scene, which simply means everything that a scene is composed of.
However, a film is a created work of art and if you look more deeply into the film, there are many ways you can read it. ________________________________________ ________________________________________ Like all texts, film can be read in more ways than just the literal one. Quality is the way the director can incorporate the many layers of music, camera techniques, and style in film. The film must also present eloquent character development and create a mood that is appealing to the viewer. Also , the way the theme is displayed throughout the movie by means of camera styles and technique is essential to the overall feeling and understanding of the flick. The Godfather, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is a very unconventional film about organized crime. However unconventional and strange the movie seems at first, it was a wonderful and engaging film to watch.

Films based on a revolutionary theme may be the transformation of a small society, as is in the movie ‘Freedom Writers’, it may be the development of a large community as is in ‘Lagaan’ or perhaps an uprising of an ant world trying to escape their century long dictatorship from the Grass Hoppers, as is in ‘Ants’. Hence, it is needless to say that the world of Cinema has broadened the concept of revolution from being solely political to being one characteristic of bringing about any fundamental change. Revolutionary films usually consist of one leading role, the one whom the audience is most intrigued by. The viewers are made to experience every detail of the person’s life, in order to develop the emotional connection between this character, his views, and the audience. The second most important role is played by a single character or many people who represent the audience that is being addressed with the revolutionary message.
