All I was worried about was my mom getting me to practice on time or being the first one out to recess to get the good swing, but once middle school came around I started thinking about grades and how I needed to start doing well in my writing. No matter how hard I tried I struggled to find what the teacher was really looking for and they would have no problem pointing that out to me, because I would also jump back in and try again. In fifth grade our class went to the annual ‘5th grade camp’ at Clear Lake for a week. Somewhere between the teamwork activities and journal entries caused something to click and I realized writing and stories aren’t just made up creativity coming from people’s heads, it was all built off experiences they have had in there lives. From then on when a writing assignment came up I would relate that topic to my life and twist events and experience to please my audience.
Tryouts began after school on a beautiful Monday afternoon. Instantly, I realized the skill of this team was way above what I had been accustomed to. For the first time, I began to feel unsure of my talent. The list was posted every morning following try outs. Every day I woke up and rushed to school with the anticipation that my name would not be there.

THE DEVIL’S ARITHMETIC A NOVEL BY: JANE YOLEN THE DEVIL’S ARITHMETIC A NOVEL BY: JANE YOLEN TEXT | RESPONSE | 1) “Look,” she said quickly to Aaron to shut him up, “it doesn’t matter if you make a mistake, Ron-Ron, but if you do, I’ll be right there next to you. I’ll whisper it into your ear just like they do in the plays when someone forgets a line." (Yolen 5) | This text recaps me of the time when my best friend was very tense for, she had to recite a quote the day of our fifth grade graduation that was going to be the day after. The reason for being panicky was because she had to memorize the quote and she wouldn’t have the facility of inspecting any paper that would allow her to recall the missing words. I told her, as her

Although I felt greatly accomplished for overcoming my inability to communicate with others, there was no way to hide my Latin roots for my accent would often reveal my true identity giving some wiggle room to those who thought racist comments were still great jokes. To overcome my fear of being persecuted again, I joined my school’s drama club. During my sophomore year of high school, my drama directors announced that next year’s musical would be “Hairspray”. My heart leaped out of my chest and my jaw dropped to the ground. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and I knew that I had a shot at getting the lead.
We also do repetitive activities which involves doing a diary everyday writing about where they are, why they are here, what they have done yesterday and going to do today and also how they are feeling of which they can look back on anytime they are feeling anxious or forgetful, we do such things as brain games like word association and word of the day, I’m now going to give you our weekly plan that we do were you can see the activities we do every day from budgeting their money through to cooking tasks and current affairs and so forth. We also explain to the residents that they should treat all these things as their job so everyone needs to join in as if they were in the community and working and as in a job there will be penalties and they will lose out on doing other things that they enjoy if the work isn’t done just like in a normal job you would lose your wages if you didn’t turn up and here on Maplewood it would be not going to the shop that day or not going on an outing and
We knew a counselor at the school she was a family friend my father called her and told her what had just happened she sent an email out to all the teachers at the school to let them know that our mother had passed away. She told my dad I had a choice to come to school or not, I said I would think about it. Than my dad took my brother and I out to go sledding to get things off our mind at that moment so we could just relax. The next day my dad took my brother to school and talked to the office about what happened when I was at school. At first people thought I was joking about my mother passing away and I said why I would joke about something like that.
