Introduction In North of China there is a serious problem that is there do not have enough drinkable water for people who live in North of China include the capital of China --- Beijing where I’m come from. When I’m not coming to the US, I saw many public service advertising for saving water on TV. And our teacher in school will teach us many details about saving water and use recycled water; it not only can help our community but also can reduce our expenses on paying water fee for our daily life. Because of the prolonged drought in north of China, accounted for over 60% of arable land and the population accounts for more than 45%, but the per capita water resources is only 1/4 of the country, 1/6 of the world. The south-north water diversion project can change that. We need more water to have a better development for each city in north of China. The ways to solve the problem For anybody who lives in north of China, they have responsibility and obligation to saving water. The Chinese government is controlling the water price, they have to guarantee every people have drinkable water. And from over 20 years ago, Chinese government has decision a project to fundamentally solve this problem. South-to-North Water Diversion Project in China is the major strategic project to alleviate serious shortages of drinkable water in north of China; and it is currently the largest water diversion project in the world, construction began in 2002. There is flood in south of China and drought in north of China. This project is planning for 44.8 billion cubic meters per year. The construction time is about 40-50 years. It will solve more than 700 million people for long-term consumption of high fluoride water and brackish water. The total investment of the project is about $ 80 billion U.S. dollar.
