A lot of people have digital cameras these days. But they don’t know how to properly set them up. The sales person at the camera store doesn’t even know how to use a camera. So I’m going to show you how to set up your digital camera correctly. First remove the camera from its box. Take the plastic rapper off of it. Charge the battery. Then get out the manual and read how the camera functions. People for some strange reason never read the manual. After reading the manual you should understand how to navigate around the menus in your camera. Buy a tripod. Always use a tripod. For the highest quality photographs, either with film or a digital camera always uses a tripod to steady the camera. This prevents blurry and unrecognizable pictures. Find the ISO function underneath your menu. Then set the ISO to the lowest setting. By default, the ISO is set to Auto which lets it fluctuate between the lowest, and highest setting that the camera is capable of, depending on the amount of available light. ISO determines how much light is captured by your camera’s sensor. Lower ISO is higher quality with less digital noise. Set your camera to capture the most pixels it’s capable of capturing. This won’t matter if you shoot RAW because that setting will always give you the most pixels available. But it's really important if you shoot JPEG because you'll need all the information the camera is capable of capturing. Always choose the setting that gives you the highest quality with the least amount of compression. If you don't have enough room on your memory card then purchase a larger capacity card. Memory is real cheap these days and if you don’t like certain pictures you can just delete them. Do not use the digital zoom feature.
