Motivation – Anna much prefers the daily challenges of working on a client site over working on internal office projects. She is motivated in her work by skill variety. She identifies herself with the task and the significance of the work is much higher when working directly with clients. Being out in the field also affords more autonomy and job feedback is more direct since Anna is dealing directly with the client. These are all core components of the job characteristics model.
Again, understanding her employees is the key to relationship building. She feels by understanding her staff, she will have better morale and more productivity. They describe the many jobs that are considered feminine such as secretarial, waitressing, and stewardess trades. Within these “feminine” jobs comes certain requirements for women such as, smiling, being friendly, and overly joyous. These type of behaviors are almost expected to be fulfilled without any questions since society has already pegged women as “emotion” laborers. This type of emotion is called “shadow labor” which can be described as the emotional work of enhancing the status and well-being of others (Hochschild 167). Women are expected to put on a motherly overtone while working; they are required to laugh at the jokes of the customers and are expected to go above and beyond their traditional expectations.
In the meanwhile, there are a large number of people insisting in the point of view that this situation must keep on existing, and female should live on the pre-given talent instead of developing some other skills. According to the contents in the “French Feminist Philosophy”, it is obvious that some women philosophers prefer to be approved because of their abilities or skills rather than be thought highly based on their pre-given talent. That means the female is the more important factor to affect the society and population (Alexei A. Maklakov). Even though they have this social responsibility, some of them argue that the female can develop more all-rounded. And Simone De Beauvoir was one of these great feminist philosophers.
She displayed a high level of engagement with job and experiences positive emotions while at work. This employee is not easily affected by her emotions and does not allow setback to effect her work. We felt the motivation plan that best applied to her is self-efficacy theory. With this theory we will place her in more demanding positions by taking advantage of her level of engagement. Our plan will also include showing more confidence in by making group leader on the upcoming company project.
I thought this to mean that Gilman was feminizing them while the women held the power to release them. Also when they were in confinement how they were allowed to exercise and Gilman says the older women would match or beat them at the exercises. Gilman gets this point across pretty clear that she thinks women are equal, if not better than males. In this utopian place, Gilman lays out a place and society that she believes is an ideal place to live. She creates a social structure that because it is all women believes that there is never any trouble and everyone gets along with one another.
The government decided to start a propaganda campaign to get women working to help with the war. They promoted “Rosie the Riveter” as the ideal woman worker: loyal, efficient, patriotic, and pretty. (Sorensen 3) The campaign was a success because the women stepped in to take the factory jobs that the men left behind when they went off to war. The women took jobs such as making ammunition, uniforms, and air planes. They were also doing jobs such as welding, riveting and engine repair.
Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” (Lopez A5) It is evident that over the course of history, the plight of women has caused women of different circumstances and problems to be empowered and exert their full efforts to bring about necessary reforms and many times have they succeeded. With that said, women empowerment should be about more than just breaking the bounds of repression, but more than that, being truly free to be women who remain true to the authentic set of morals and standards they have set for themselves. It is important that women develop a sense of purpose within them and make use of their personal potential, not only for the benefit of themselves, but more importantly, for the betterment of society. That spark of purpose has to emerge and start with the self until it burns brighter to enlighten those around them; the potential of a woman has the power to be truly
There is something I have to give to these people and I can relate. Discovering the issues of generational poverty only pushes me to explore ways of helping clients build their self-esteem and give hope. Looking at the challenges that older people wanting to work with a fair opportunity only allows me to push to be a knowledgeable advocate and reach for change. The respect I have for women of all ages has deeply increased because I am woman and if I haven't been through it, I will one day. Any doubts I've ever had about if this was the right avenue for me have been diminished because of this week's studies.
