There is a saying that states “You never get a second chance to make a good first impression”. It only takes a single look, not more than a few seconds for someone to form an opinion about you during a first meeting. In this short span, the other party evaluates you based on a number of factors such as Physical appearance, mannerisms, attitude, body language, turnout and body language. Every time you meet someone for the first time, yet another opinion is being formed of you by someone. This first impression, once formed, is most of the time, nigh impossible to change or undo, making these first impressions extremely important. It is these impressions that get the ball rolling and provide the backdrop for all the relationships that will follow. So whether it be for work or play, through happy times or sad, the value of making a good first impression should never be underestimated. To this extent, this guide will provide some useful suggestions. First and foremost is your presentation. One can look at this as a highly superficial viewpoint but you have to keep in mind that the person you are meeting for the first time does not know you and the way you look and dress is the first clue this person will have about you and your personality. Of course, this does not mean that looking like your favorite model or actor is required. Unless you are interviewing for a modeling or acting job that is. The trick is actually to present yourself in a way that is appropriate to the situation you are in. “A picture is worth a thousand words”, the saying goes and it is this ‘thousand words’ that will say much about you to the person you are meeting.
