How to Kick a Bad Habit (final draft) How can I quit cussing? It’s a question most people think of; I know I did when I cussed like a drunken sailor. Growing up in my grandmother’s home cussing was not permitted. So I always had to watch my language. But whenever I was around my mother or dad that’s all you heard @#$$$%^ every other word. At work, when I turn on the television, at every turn it seems like that’s all I heard all day long, it just became part of my normal vocabulary. When I decided to stop cussing these are the steps that worked for me: 1. worked on changing my thoughts, 2.worked on my attitude, 3. Worked on changing my words. First I had to start by changing the way I would think, and that included my morning alcohol “waker upper”. I decided that I know longer needed to drink first thing in the morning. Once that started, then everything else would fall into a routine. Along with, the way I spoke to everyone, or thought about every knucklehead out there who was not in the same frame of minds that as I was. Therefore, what I have to say now about cussing is for those of you who would like to quit cussing. Start by changing your outlook on life, be quick to think, and slow to speak. In the beginning, it is hard to remember, but if you keep working at it, it gets easier. Secondly, my attitude I would need to work on. I would need to start my day off in the right frame of mind. This is what I call meditation time; Think on things that are pleasing and good. When you look at all the good around you, you begin to hear the birds singing in the morning and smell the flowers around you. Then you begin to realize all that is pure and peaceful within yourself, and your attitude can begin to change. Especially with those, you encounter each day. You are now in a different frame of mind. No matter how others may be around you, you can maintain
