The good stress is the kind that will help keep you motivated to be productive and be able to achieve the goals we set for ourselves. A person’s stress level can range from low to high. When the stress level is low the stress hormones produced will trigger stressors for boredom and depression while high-level stress triggers stressors for anxiety or excitement. Since the body reacts by producing stress hormones that will help take proper action, if you are experiencing more than one type of stressor you can use one to prevent yourself from experiencing or dealing with the other one. For example each time my husband is deployed I use the work, school and family problems stressors to distract me from worrying about him being in a dangerous mission.

More specifically, some individuals can handle stress better than others, some individual can even thrive on stress and us it as a motivator, thus helping them to cope with their busy lifestyle. Coping stategies can be learnt, so those individuals that cope well with stress are likely to have parents that also cope well, whereas those that have parents that do not cope well with life stressors are also less likely to cope very well. For example, if your friends with a group of people you think may get you in to trouble you will probably change your behavior in order to distance yourself from them. Supporting people with dementia is important the most vital part is assisting them to enjoy their life as much as possible supporting them to carry on with hobbies and interests as enabling them to have as much independence as possible by giving them choice and the chance to make decisions. Communicating with people with dementia can be difficult but remaining patient and being clear in what you saying is important , as sometimes the person you are communicating with can be confused or upset. Using their name or preferred form of address is best and knowing what you are talking about so you do not become confused yourself will help. Other things may make communicating harder these could be physical disability such strokes cancer of the mouth area and cerebral palsy and injury to the jaw as well as things like Bells Palsy. It can decrease defensiveness and resistance and increases empowerment and hope. People will go through stages as they change from unhealthy behaviors to healthy, which are cognitive and behavioral. Meeting the person where they are is very important in order to move them from resistance to acceptance. The stages of change helps provide a framework for understanding the process.

Because unless depression is what one needs, it is not something people can effectively deal with alone. It can be overwhelming enough just to create a plan to overcome all the negative thoughts that interfere with doing just the simplest task.
