How to Change a Flat Tire Ladies have you ever been driving down the road and hear a flip flop of a flat tire? Well, I have and it’s a pain in the rear. Every woman should know how to change her own tire, so I’m going to example how to do it. There are a few things drivers will need to have handy before starting the process. The main things a person will need are a spare tire, lug nut wrench, an owner manual, and a jack. First, the vehicle must be parked on a flat surface as far away from traffic as possible. Make sure the emergency break is applied. It is recommended that placing a block on the opposite side of the flat tire. For instead; the right tire is flat so the block would be placed behind the front left tire. Now the driver will need to gather the spare tire, jack, lug nut wrench and your owner manual to begin the changing of the tire. Next, if the car is equipped with a hub cap; it needs to be removed. By removing the hub cap you will have access to the lug nuts. Grab you lug nut wrench and start loosening the nuts by turn the wrench counter clock wise. The bolts will be very tight so you will need to use some of your man strength to unscrew them. Once you loosen the lug nuts, do not take them all the way off yet. Place the jack underneath the car, using the owner manual to determine the placement of the jack. If the driver doesn’t have a manual, just find the sturdiest point closes to the tire you are changing. With the jack in place, take the handle and turn the crank on the jack clock wise to start lifting the car up until the wheel is high enough off the ground to remove the tire. Once the car is off the ground, finish removing the lug nuts and place them in the hub cap. By placing the lug nuts in the hub cap, the driver will know exactly where they placed them.
