Question four. What would be required for you to progress further and become a skilled performer? There is a significant difference between the movements of a skilled performer and those of an unskilled performer. The movements of a skilled performer have certain observable qualities such as kinesthetic sense, anticipation, consistency and technique. Kinesthetic sense Kinaesthesis refers to the system of sensitivity that exists in the muscles and their attachments. In the cognitive stage of learning my kinesthetic sense positively influenced my acquisition of the skill juggling. My kinesthetic senses allowed me to feel the movement of having the third ball sitting in my right hand before I had began executing the skill with three balls. In order for me to become a skilled performer I would be required to continue practicing the skill until I had a well-developed kinesthetic sense eventually resulting in no mistakes. Anticipation A skilled performer is able to predict what may happen in specific situations by reading cues and choosing the appropriate response to the action. Anticipation influenced my acquisition of the skill juggling, as I was able to progressively acquire better timing and faster responses due to continuously executing the skill. To be considered a skilled performer I would be required to practice in order to ensure I was capable of predicting when the correct time to execute the skill smoothly and with coordination would be. Consistency Skilled performers show much more consistency than unskilled performers. For me to become consistent in the skill juggling I would have to progress to the autonomous stage and be able to execute the skill over and over again. As I didn’t use internal feedback during the learning progress, I relied on external feedback from family members to correct the errors I was making and was then less able to
