As a member of management it is even more vital that I am aware and up to date with the above, as part of my role is to guide, support and influence other staff to do well in their own roles. Your own professional development does not only impact on yourself but other staff, the organisation and people who use the service. Reflective practice is a huge part of professional development and you need to be skilful in this to really benefit from it, criticising your own practice isn’t always easy but if you take a step back and look at it from different points of view it can really benefit yourself and your skills. To improve my own knowledge is very important to me and I really enjoy learning new skills which can benefit my roles or future roles.
I could find it hard to accept other staff members values and beliefs, and feel mine are the right ones. 2.1. Constructive feedback gives people the chance to develop within there role if its needed. If the feedback is good then the person will feel good and confident, but could take offence to constructive feedback. In my setting we have regular supervision with the team leader who will give constructive and good feedback.

This approach must know how to handle and resolve crisis when they arise. As a leader, they must show favorable behavior for the employees to mirror to have a favorable outcome. One common indicator of leader effectiveness is the extent to which the performance of the team or organizational unit is enhanced and the attainment of goals is facilitated (Yuki, 2010). Strengths The strength of the behavior approach in leadership is a situation arises, and they deal with it efficiently. Whether it is one or more issues at a time, they juggle each one to resolution.
It is a skill in itself to be able to listen to feedback carefully without becoming defensive. It is often easy to begin to defend the reasons why I do things, but the key is to remember that the focus is on improving performance. It is my responsibility to ensure my knowledge and skills are up to date. It is important to regularly attend training and refresher courses such as First Aid, health and safety training. Legislations and procedures are constantly changing and it is important to maintain your knowledge and keep it correct.
Being assertive is touch for me because I am so nice. I try my best to not say things that could possibly hurt someone’s feelings even if people speak disrespectfully to me. I have to learn to be more assertive and straight to the point. A good leader is a good communicator. One important tool in communication is assertiveness.
I believe my guiding statement will definitely help me if I were to have a disagreement with my supervisor at work. First Respect will be very important when having a disagreement. Both parties should treat one with respect, to keep a common ground and eliminate conflict or chaos, especially in the work environment. If I am committed to my place of employment as much as my supervisor is committed, the disagreement would be easy to work out. However, in some cases both parties won’t come to and common agreement.
Gaining reassurance and acknowledgement is another form of communication it is always admirable to gain and give compliments. When one is acknowledged for the work that they have done it will impact into the work that is being done. Other reasons why people communicate are to discuss a situation, make a point or outline a concern and develop learning. 1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work Effective communication is a two way process. The person communicating has to make sure they are giving the right message, but also needs to make sure that it is being correctly received and understood by the other person or people.
To ensure that we are performing to the best of our abilities we have to maintain our skill set. If someone comes up with a better way to do things CPAs should be open to the information and not just stuck in the way things have always been done (Mintz & Morris, 2011, Chapter Chapter 1). Reading the principles you can see that they talk about the others within their explanations, but in order to provide the best service to clients understanding the responsibilities, making sure our integrity is always intact, and maintaining our due diligence (care) in always presenting the best products should be the most important. Mintz, S., & Morris, R.E. (2011).
It is important to keep a balance of the important things in one’s life otherwise, weaknesses can be developed that shadows over a person’s natural strength to prioritize. A balance of the important things in one’s life is what allows personal success to be achieved. Successfulness is the ability to seize new opportunities and explore new paths in life. Balance is the key to success because when there is balance in one’s life there is a cut back of stress, which makes room for the ability to thrive; and a person’s ability to thrive is what carries them to their personal success. To be successful is to understand what is important to you, to recognize your weaknesses without hiding behind them, to strive for balance as well as open new doors in life.
