Jonathon Ms. Galloway College English I 23 September 2011 How to be a Successful Senior Throughout my years of high school, I have had many friends, and have known a lot of people. Being so, I have seen and learned a lot from watching these people come and go. One group in particular though, those who normally get straight-A’s, is who I find the most interesting once they reach their senior year. What is it that I find interesting? How they go from getting straight A’s up through their junior year, to nearly failing during their senior year. I believe that everyone who has experienced this could have gotten A’s and B’s their senior year; they just did not know how to be a successful senior. That is what I am going to be covering in this informative essay. My first point is to prioritize. Most students have a lot going on during their senior year. Some are involved in extracurricular activities; some play sports; some have college classes; some have jobs; etc. But what they do not do, is prioritize; or maybe they just do not know how to do so. They should be putting school before most other things, especially a job. Unless you are already making fourteen dollars an hour, you need school and education to get a better job, which can actually support you. If you do have a job, however, make sure you have enough nights off of work each week so you can have enough time to get your work done. Teachers do not like excuses such as, “I did not do my homework because I was working late the past two nights.” While they may be considerate and extend your time, you should not be relying on them to do so. Maybe you have a night off, and your friend calls and invites you to a movie; you would probably be tempted to go. One who prioritizes, correctly I might add, would politely decline the offer and spend his or her free time finishing up school work and getting
