Eating Disorders There are many events in our lives that can lead to an eating disorder. There are a few different types of eating disorders. In my paper I will describe a few different eating disorders and the affects they have and how they come about. There are many people around us every day that we do not even realize have these problems. Due to life and other problems that we face can cause to a number of problems. The first that I would like to address is Anorexia nervosa. This is an eating disorder that is usually characterized by ones extremely low body weight, and deformation or distortion. It also brings up an obsessive compulsive fear of gaining weight. It is a voluntary starvation. They just have a lack of desire to eat. These people are disturbed about what their body looks like and they don’t ever know how serious it is. It becomes a mental case with most people that have this disease. They always think they are fat and not perfect enough. Sometimes it is a self inflicted thing. People get depressed and start worrying about what they look like and if they are good enough. There tends to be a problem with self esteem. The world sometimes sets such a standard of what people need to look like and that is where the problem begins for some people. This condition has a very big affect on teenage girls between the ages of 15 and 19 years of age. This makes up about 40 percent of all the cases in the United States. The really sad thing is how it affects the young females. About 90 percent of people with anorexia are women. The next disorder that I want to talk about is Bulimia Nervosa. Bulimia Nervosa is a serious illness in which one over eats and or binges on food and feels a loss of control. When this person reaches a point they then use different methods to discharge the food.
