Sometimes this is learned behaviour from home and is hard for young children to understand that you are telling them it is not okay to call names because of someone’s skin colour or how they look . It is important to be consistent and reinforce that it’s not okay and it is very upsetting and hurtful. How would they feel if they were left out. We need to teach our children empathy from an early age and to respect each other regardless of race, age, gender, how we look, where were from. 2.2 Any form of prejudice and discrimination can have a severe negative effect throughout a person’s life.
The parents usually do not socialize with other parents because they usually receive negative comments towards their child. Parents who anti-socialize usually channel that aggression to their spouse which results in violent arguments. Schools as well as teachers are also responsible on placing kids with ADHD in an environment where they can perform their best. This is not to segregate the children but to place them in an environment where they can learn their best. Also, if the child does not perform at his/her best, it greatly reduces the self-esteem not only of the child but the parents as well.
This is why I believe that it’s not the schools fault. Additionally, the article conveys “‘if a school employee witnesses a behavior that is problematic and makes a conscious decision not to address it, it becomes schools problem’.” (Diblasio). This may be true; however it is only resolved for that incident but later on, the bully can decide to be more careful and bully the student more outside of school because an adult intervened. Now I am not saying not to intervene, just that it wouldn’t make the bullying stop completely. Studies have shown that most of the times, the bully is the one that needs more help because maybe he is bullying because he was or is being bullied too. It is also hard to detect but in most cases, this is true.
Spanking Children Many parents think that spanking is a good way to correct the bad attitudes and bad things that children usually do. Parents usually spank children for these reasons, but parents should know that children can get some different [additional] problems because of spanking. Children can get depression, bad relationships and mental problems. Parents are asking themselves if spanking children is a good way to discipline children or not? Therefore, according to the latest studies of some organizations such as children protection, spanking can create physiological problems such as depression in a child.
In cases of that it might be best for scores to be kept private, known just to parents and the student. Intelligence tests can also mess with students self esteem. If a student is a poor test taker and does poorly on an intelligence test it can mess with their self esteem and make them feel horrible. Their grades might suffer and it could lead to depression. Precautions are needed so students are not harmed by a test that might not have been necessary to begin
Through our program, we had to have several “workshops” with the guardians each year. It was always hard to try to teach a grown person set in their ways that yelling at their child, was not the correct way of discipline. When working in today’s public school systems, often times, actions get scrutinized too much. Telling a child that you love them might cause someone to raise their brow. Children need praise and love.
NCLB was established so that students were not held back in a grade and were promoted to the next grade. I think this is a political aspect that is failing our students. If a student is not understanding the material or doesn’t pass the tests showing that they understand and can retain the information, I don’t believe that they should be promoted. I believe that it only hurts the students because they get more behind as they advance through the levels. The ethical issues that regard the high stakes testing is that it could be unfair to some students.
The more effective way to handle this in my opinion would be to ask Brigit to demonstrate how to complete the test and show her what she is doing incorrectly. I think Pamela should educate her and they could retest the students together. I understand it can be challenging to use assertive communication because it is a risk. The outcome can be unexpectedly negative. I think this might be why some people communicate passively because they have had a negative experience with this, and maybe it made things negative for them or changed things into a horrible situation.
Kids go to school to learn and be successful, but how can they achieve anything when they are constantly being bashed on. I myself have witnessed people being made fun of because of their accents. Another bad thing is when teachers favor
The reason that spanking confuses them is simply this; parents are the example of the difference between right and wrong and all spanking is doing is telling the child is that every time somebody does something wrong they should be smacked for the mistake they made. Secondly, spanking simply installs a sense of "fear and resentment" towards the parent. The only result that comes from making a child fear the parent is just reverse what is trying to be accomplished; discipline. On top of fearing the parent, the child will also lose respect for their parent and make the relationship between parent and child become very weak. Discipline will not work if parents do not have a good relationship with their child This highlights how spanking a child will weaken the respect that is needed between child and parent.
