Business Administration 2. Taking an organization of our choice, examine how it has ( or should) adopt Management By Objective (MBO) and the various advantages and disadvantages of it doing so. For the focus of this assignment it will be on a multi-national Insurance Call Centre, which has adopted Management By Objective as their method of management. Definition for MBO: The principle behind MOB is to make sure each individual must understand the operation of the organisation, the aims of the organisation as well as awareness of their own roles and responsibilities in achieving those aims. Each individual in the company must have clearly defined targets. In this company you would have an induction-training course where you would be informed of the companies aims and objectives for the job you will be working. For each person you would have a number of personal aims, which will be related to team aims. You would be told for example one aim would be to answer calls from customers who need to make a claim on their insurance because they have been made redundant or become unwell and cannot work. Your objective is to deal with their claim on the first call. You would have to make sure the customer came off the call feeling confident and happy that everything has been sorted out. Thus preventing future calls from customer and decreasing the call volume. And also maintaining good customer relations. For this to be successful the correct training is essential. As each objective relates to the success of the whole, the process of MBO must be timely and work in synchronicity with all other functional area, MBO requires the involvement of everyone. For you to meet your target the training team have to meet their target and so on. This would be one advantage of MBO as our objective is clarified and you know exactly what you have to do.
