How does the story of King Schahriar and his brother hold interest of the reader? The interest of the reader in King Schahriar and his brother is held by the writer’s talented writing techniques. He uses the presentation of the King and how he acts also the writer uses other characters to help the story to keep the reader interested. He also does this by using language techniques that helps build suspense. The most effective of way that the writer keeps the reader interested is the element of surprise. While reading this we are told that the Grand Vivir’s daughter, Scheherazade is willing to “allow the honour to fall” on her. This means to attempt to save the people she is willing to risk death itself. This shocks the reader as who would do such a selfless act considering she is one of the two people in the land who is safe. At the same time it depresses them as we are told she was intelligent, courageous and beautiful and we now know she is about to die. This encourages the reader to read on as they want to know the hopefully lucky fortune of Scheherazade and whether she will be successful in her task.…show more content…
First we are told that his first wife “deceived him completely” and had an affair and this is what turned him insane. “He was quite sure that at the bottom of all women were” evil and everyone was like the Queen. This causes a debate in our mind on whether the King is actually evil or whether one woman has shattered his life and this makes him trusts another women again as he realised he trusts too much. The writer uses this to keep the reader interested, as the reader would like to find out whether they believe the King is a good man driven mad or always been
