Some schools’ mission statement is the modern equivalent to a motto. “Although our pupils achieve well, we are interested in more than just results. We aim to provide an inspiring, stimulating and enjoyable education for all our pupils, introducing them to a wealth of exciting experiences across the whole curriculum.” How is this reflected? : The pupils’ achievements not only academic but also sporting, artistic, performing and behaviour, both in and out of school are recognised. There is a positive culture of learning and development that is celebrated by merits, certificates, displays and praise from teaching staff.
James Rachels’ on Normative Cultural Relativism Every culture has its own customs, traditions and beliefs that dictate the actions of its citizens. Cultural relativism states that although practices and ethical beliefs differ from society to society, it must be accepted as good, relative to each respective culture’s beliefs and moral code. Rachels believes that an act that may be frowned upon in one culture may in fact be totally acceptable in another. The theory of Cultural Relativism puts in action the idea of what people believe is morally right and how it relates to the culture that it is practiced in. Morals concern what is right and wrong.
It varies because of mood and behavioral influences. If one is in a bad mood they will typically communicate negatively and without thinking about the affects it may have on someone else. Regardless of how we communicate we need to realize that all communication is cultural. In essence, it portrays ways we have learned to speak and send nonverbal messages. Not only are there different principles and contexts to consider, but there are also cultural barriers.
It is important that culture diversity is not lost but yet is advocates for its uniqueness instead of stereotyping one another. It I important to say we are all one and should live as such to keep harmony in our
1.1 Explain how to recognise and build on the strengths of a child or young person by giving different examples of positive strategies. There are a variety of different ways you can recognise and build on the strengths of a child, some of these strategies include: circle time, helping the child adapt to the environment, helping a child develop self-esteem, partaking in sport activities, reading and listening and many more. In order to help build on a Childs strengths you will need to identify what their strengths are. Strengths can include having a positive attitude towards certain activities, seeing an interest from the child/young person in a specific activity and excelling in academic studiers. Communication is extremely important as you need it to understand the Childs feelings and to assess their behaviour towards their strengths and also their weakness.

Know the regulatory requirments for a positive enviroment for children and young people. 1.1 Describe what is meant by a positive enviroment There are lots of different enviroments that children and young people will learn and develop in wether it be home, school , nursery , outdoor play areas or educational visits, all of these places can be made into positive enviroments for children this means somewhere that can challenge them helping them learn and develop whilst also promiting rest and healthy living. A good physical enviroment is important as it helps promote good moods in children, this means bright visual displays and lots of sensory opportunities round the room, a interactive sensory wall display is a good way of doing this. It is extremley imortant that practitioners value language and diversity , respecting difference in children and young people wether it be race, religion or appearance.
Children’s sense whom they are shaped by their characteristics, their behaviour, and their understanding of themselves, their families and others. Belonging is about having a secure relationship with or a connection with a particular group of people. When children feel a sense of belonging and sense of pride in their families, their peeps, and their communities, they can be emotionally strong, self-assured and able to deal with their challenges and difficulties. This creates an important foundation for their learning Giving children messages of respect, love, approval and encouragement enables them to develop a positive sense of who they are and a feeling that they have an important contribution to make wherever they are. Positive messages about their families, background, cultures and languages help children to develop pride in who they are.
