How do governments deal with different forms of pollution? Generally in some countries the government is sufficient and they do their job properly in spite of the salary that they usually get, which is quite low. Naturally one of the main things the government tries to improve and make better is the environment. The environment is the conditions in which people live and work in such as land, air and water, which this paper will be about the pollutions of these three factors. -Firstly, land pollution; around the world people are producing more and more waste. In the past people were more likely to repair things rather than throw things away when it goes wrong. Today people tend to throw something away when it goes wrong. Often because it is cheaper to buy something new than to have repairs done. Many countries looked forward to solve this problem. A country such as the United Kingdom has put a target to recycle 25% of household waste by 2005, 30% by 2010 and 33% by 2015. (J&B, Recycling legislation). The UK government also aims to increase the recycling rate, so they requires waste collection to collect at least two types of recyclable waste from all households in their area by 31 December 2010. ( HWR Act 2003). Currently the UK government makes huge holes in the ground and they put the local rubbish in them. However this should not be done unless they have separated the waste that can be recycled and reused. On the other hand in my own country (Libya) the government has no legislations that can be taken to reduce waste. So they just burn all the rubbish in very big holes. However this will cause a reduction of resources in the near future and an increase in the air pollution, which I believe this is the reason why the UK government does not burn rubbish unless if engineers were able to burn the rubbish more cleanly. Last but not least some governments
