Lyndon B. Johnson President Lyndon Baines Johnson championed civil rights and helped to promote integrity throughout the country with his power and coordination through heaps of effort. Johnson was a strong supporter of racial equality and grew up as a peaceful and non-racist child because he worked with Hispanics and acquired a sense of remorse for their poverty. As the 36th President of the United States, he signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and helped create the Great Society. (Trueman) All of these things were achieved with the mindset of civil equality and the basis that all men were created equally. He achieved a myriad of personal goals and aided in completing a lifetime goal of desegregating America. Lyndon B. Johnson was born on August 27, 1908, in the vicinity of Johnson City, Texas. He worked his way through school and involved himself in school debates and campus politics. His family was a very religious family and this might have resulted in him being such a humane person. Johnson had the audacity to sign the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on July 2, 1964. This bill changed America as a whole. It basically “opened all public accommodations -- hotels, restaurants, swimming pools -- to all Americans regardless of race, color, religion or national origin”.
