To tell the truth, steroids just like pretty much everything else in this world, have pros and cons to it. To some athletes the pros outweigh the cons so they take steroids. For others it is the opposite. I am one of the others, I believe the cons outweigh the pros and athletes should not use steroids. People have heard of steroids and some of them know what they are or have a clue to what they are, but some just have no idea.
Many people do not think about these things. You should not be allowed to use any type of drugs as an athlete unless they are prescribed to you. Illegal drugs can affect the way you play and can screw you emotions and hormones. Drug test should be mandatory for every sport and team. Drug Testing is should be used in higher levels of sports to ensure the safety and health of these athletes is good at all times.
Why We Should Drug Test in Sports Many professional athletes of this day in age are accused of “doping,” which is the illegal use of steroids. Steroids are illegal substances that increase the effect that working out has on a person’s body, and they also have mental effects to the user. Theses substances are banned from all professional sports, but the leagues don’t always have mandatory drug tests, which allow athletes to get away with using drugs. All athletes should be drug tested at all levels of sports to prove they are obeying the laws, playing fair, and are not using banned performance-enhancing substances, without any exceptions to this rule. San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds finished the 2001 MLB season with 73 home runs, shattering Mark McGuire’s record (Porterfield, 6).
The players can have their life and baseball career uprooted by the use of steroids. Many of the greats in history have taken steroids when they didn’t even need to. Two of these players that come to mind are Mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa, arguably two of the best hitters of all time. Both of them broke hitting records in their playing
( USADA CEO Travis Tygart 2012) Said, ‘Nobody wins when an athlete decides to cheat with dangerous performance enhancing drugs, but clean athletes at every level expect those of us here on their behalf, to pursue the truth to ensure the win-at-all-cost culture does not permanently overtake fair, honest competition. Any time we have overwhelming proof of doping, our mandate is to initiate the case through the process and see it to
Depporah Joseph M B English 042 10 May 2012 Anabolic steroids Should athletes be allowed to use performance-enhancing drugs in order to improve their performance? Steroid usage in sports has long been a big issue for many athletes both professional and amateur. Steroids are not condoned in any sport however; some athletes do take the chance by using performance-enhancing drugs in order to increase the chances of a successful outcome in a competition. Many athletes have been barred from participating in certain sports because they were convicted of taking steroids. In light of this, one can only wonder how many top athletes have won events due to the use of steroids.
The principal is responsible to make the school mission effective, safe, under control, and give each individual their rights that the constitution provides them. Principals may also restrict speeches and events that students view, to prevent them from behaving bad or using illegal drugs or other substances.
Yet, this seems to be such a broad definition, it is close to impossible to draw a line between doping and what could be called therapeutic medication. Doping refers to an individual’s use of prohibited drugs or methods to improve training and sporting results. A more public opinion is that is can be a violation of true sportsmanship and unethical. The drug most commonly associated with doping is steroids but doping can include the use of other forbidden drugs, methods and even attempting to tamper with doping controls or refusal to take a drug test. Ultimately, the use of drugs violates the standard of fairness in sports
It… determines moral duty and obligations” (2007). Maintaining ethics is the responsibility of the college and admissions board to uphold certain principles based on what is right and what is wrong. Based on the principle of being honorable and upholding morals of virtue, accepting athletes that are weaker academically than other applicants because they hold strong physical skills rather than intellectual skills is not unethical. It has already been determined that colleges often take into consideration non-academic related attributes when evaluating applications. The amount of discipline, dedication and training that athletes must subject themselves to is just as, if not more, demanding as getting good grades or scoring high on the SAT.
Even though there are designated places now on campus to smoke it really defeats the purpose because people don’t abide by the specific rules that should be followed so that everyone can be satisfied in some way. People throw cigarette butts on the ground instead of in the trash to try and keep out campus looking clean. Certain people might think otherwise because having a smoke-free campus would jeopardize some people’s health. Smoking can be addictive but can help people in some positive ways for that moment. The designated smoke areas sounded like a good idea at first so that smokers would have specific places to smoke under certain rules.
