How Being a Christian Equips Me to Help Others through Counseling There are various reason how being a Christian can equip me to help others through counseling. God calls us all in to the ministry for and gives us special gifts, which all help us in counseling. By following the biblical values and morals that we learn and the education we gain from secular sources we are fully able to help those who come to us. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 9:9-11 says: Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. This describes how the Bible helps us gain wisdom that we need to live life correctly on a daily basis. If we are not living in according to God’s word them we cannot instruct others accordingly. We can see by looking at this verse how God promises us that many years will be added to our lives if we live correctly according to our knowledge of Him. Now if we can get this understanding to the people that we are around, be if they are Christians or not, then they also would start to live a holy life. Everybody wants to live a good life but we have the tendency to live by what we have learned in the past good or bad. If we have learned bad habits and lived in a bad society then of course we would follow those morals and would not change unless we are instructed otherwise and then this task would not be so easy. First thing we do in gain the understanding and pursue the correct knowledge. We should encourage people on a daily basis. When we fellowship with our friend either at home, work or church we should always give an uplifting word to them. This shows that you care for them and want to see them succeed.
