Because my students are so young, I will make it my responsibility each week to type up their homework assignments for a whole week. Every Monday, each student will be given the assignments for the entire week. By doing it this way, the whole week has already been planned out and parents and students know what to expect ahead of time. I will try my best to be consistent each week. As the year goes on, I can gradually add more work.
Being born in China but living in America, she seems ashamed of her roots and that is why she is embarrassed when her mother speaks broken English (Tan 142-146). But, although she tries hard to be American speaking and writing good English, she realizes that she has deviated from her true self. She finally makes peace with her mother and she starts appreciating her “Mother Tongue”, which consequently affects her writing positively. This shows just how peoples’ native languages are important in their lives. Our “Mother Tongue” is what gives us identity; it defines who we are, and therefore, people should value their native languages.
I will decide how much time between my two jobs I have time to at least start my class work. Next, on Monday, I will begin the routine I planned out on Sunday. Making sure I am setting aside enough time for rest and my class work. Next, on Tuesday through Thursday, I will continue the same routine. Then, on Friday, I will set aside time at the end of the day to proofread my work and type it up.
To make her point clear she uses a lot of pathos and a lot of examples from experiences with herself and her two daughters, Louisa and Sofia. At the beginning when she tells the stories about her daughters trying to fight back you think ’what a terrible mother’, but she uses this feeling to support the view the readers have on the Chinese mothers as being mean to their kids so that afterwards she can tell how it turned out good and therefor the way she raises her kids is the best. Amy Chua has a high ethos because she is a professor at Yale which is a very respected job, and as a parent it makes her more reliable because she tells the reader that her parents treated her the same way that she treats her daughters, and as we can see she has been very successful. Also she uses loghos: ”In one study of 50 Western American mothers and 48 Chinese immigrant mothers, almost 70 % of the Western mothers said either that ”stressing academic success is not good for children” or that ”parents need to foster the idea that learning is fun”. By contrast,
I am going to use some techniques described in this section such as scheduling early classes, studying in between classes and when I am studying, actually focusing. This quarter my latest class starts at 9 a.m., and my earliest class is 8 a.m. This already shows how I put this section into effect. I plan on scheduling my classes early like this for the rest of my college career that way I can get an early start every day. I try to study in between my classes during my two hour breaks on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so I don’t fall behind in my schoolwork.
The gender gap in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) has been an enduring problem, and new research shows that the gap is widening. Washington Post Op-Ed writer Catherine Rampell discusses one potential reason for this in her article, “Women should embrace the B’s in college to make more later”. The author presents her case based on new research showing that women in fact hate getting B’s. Rampell’s thesis positions that women are selling themselves short by fixating on grades (1). If women’s grades decline in STEM, economics, or other quantitative fields, women often switch majors to pursue more forgiving humanities degrees.
GEN 200 Week 1 DQ 1 Post a 150- to 200-word response to the following discussion question by clicking on What major obstacles—personal, professional, or academic— will you need to overcome in order to be successful in school? Describe how you will use at least two specific time management strategies to help maximize the use of your time during this class and to reach your educational goals. The main obstacle that I will have to defeat is balancing work, my routine working out at the gym and school. I work from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Head to the gym after work for an hour or so four times a week.
I plan to overcome this fear by making and sticking to a schedule, and reminding myself that everything doesn’t have to be perfect. I already have a work schedule planned that will allow me to attend class on Wednesdays, play softball on Thursdays, and get my 3 night shifts in. When I work the weekend, I will work to have my assignments completed early and ready to turn in. I
Year round school runs on a system where students go to school for a month and then get a week off and repeat. The common myth about year round schooling is that a student have to go to school for more than 180 days. In reality year round schooling is just as long as traditional schooling. SOLUTIONS A reason for year round school is that it is more fiscally efficient. Since year round schooling has one group of students that are on vacation for a week while the rest of school is in secession, it allows for class room space to be used more and a single teacher would Evers # be able to teach more students because of the way that year round schooling is set up.
Short-Term Goal Personal My short-term personal goal is to pass my HCS/301 class. I have not attended class in a little over two years, so this will be new and exciting.
