Honesty they say is a virtue: yes, I agree with the saying. it’s the good old adage which seems so easy to say but difficult to implement. Honesty supports being truthful, fair, sincere, and loyal with integrity. Wikipedia defines honesty as ‘’a facet of moral character which denotes positive, virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, and straightforwardness along with the absence of lying, cheating, or theft’’ Being truthful irrespective of the consequences may seem ‘silly’ especially when these consequences are grave. Some circumstances could call for bit cunningness and we call it just a ‘little lie’ but deep down in our heart we know the truth. Honesty is always the best choice no matter how old we are or what we are faced with. As adolescents ( a very difficult time in everyone’s life), several instances abound where youths seem to prefer the seemingly easy but dishonest route like cheating in exams instead of putting in little effort studying, lying to our parents in order to stay out late. For one to really succeed in life, the act of honesty should be imbibed. If we look at the history of great men and women of old who made a mark on the sands of time, the common thing we will find is HONESTY. The respect we wish to attain from people can only be gained if we cultivate the spirit of honesty. Without honesty, no one believes you even on the rare occasions you decide to be honest.
