K. Viers Ms. Collins Eng 101 2 July 2012 Home Schooling Education is one of the most important things in life. Some people choose to send their children to public schools, and some people choose to teach their children at home. Many people support home schooling; however, many people are against it. My son started out in a public school. He went kindergarten, first, second, third, and half a year in fourth grade in public school. I started home schooling my son after Thanksgiving his fourth grade year. Home school is better than public school because it is more laid back and stress free. There aren’t as many pressures put upon children when you home school. My decision to start home schooling my son required a lot of thought. It was a tough decision to make but I am so glad I made it. I had to make the decision based on the problems he was beginning to have in school. He has ADHD and was having a very hard time in a classroom setting. He was not able to stay focused. He was constantly getting into arguments with teachers and other students. I was always getting calls from the school about silly petty things that he had done wrong. My child now had a target, so to speak, painted on him. His every move was being watched. Home schooling has been a wonderful experience for both me and my son. He enjoys getting the one on one attention. I enjoy getting to spend a lot of time with my son. Home schooled children have just as many, if not more opportunities as children who go to public schools. Home school has sports, cheerleading, extra curriculum activities, and field trips just like public schools. You can teach your children any curriculum that you want as long as it’s educational and they are learning. Home schooling is also great because you can have your own methods of teaching.
