Our society’s obesity problem has some personal responsibility. There are other ways people can obtain healthier foods; cooking your own meals is an excellent alternative. Some think that fast food is inexpensive in which catches the public’s eye. In fact, cooking meals at home is a lot cheaper; consumers can grow their own food. Another factor of obesity can also be linked to parental responsibility.
Although many people may not like natural food because it do not have not flavor, natural food does provide enough nutrients, so people can have more energy in their daily life performance. For instance, when I eat homemade food, I have sufficient energy to be able to study, play soccer, and go to work. Therefore, I enjoy more to eat homemade food than eating processing food. Pollen believes Cooking is one of the most important health consequences of buying food from local farmers” (Pollen539) I agree, because I feel so different when I do not eat homemade food. As a result, eating homemade food with natural ingredients, it would help me out to do better of my daily activities.
And the customer will assume since the other coffee maker was on sale and such a low price that this coffee maker must be a good deal as well and chances are buy it. College students do not plan ahead of time so something they can grab on their way is a great product and providing more quality for only a smaller premium than other leading coffee shops will give them a satisfying choice they can get on their budget. Middle-class families tend to be on the move for extra-curricular activities, and this means meals and coffee on the go, meaning a need for healthy options for snacks
This means that they need different types of nutrition’s. For example since their metabolism tend to burn the food faster they need some type of heavy food but not too heavy so soon their metabolism won’t be able to break it down; which will cause them to gain weight. Pollan does point out in his book how fast food is not very healthy and how it is a poor quality of food. I am here to correct what he said towards fast food. Fast food can be good for you if you eat the fast food correctly.
Pollan’s enticing style of the book kept something that could have been extremely boring very engaging. He also took a complex subject and made it easier for readers to understand what he was trying to convey. You can say it is a modern twist to a dietary guideline book of dos and don’ts with a little bit of politics involved. Pollan explains that the government, scientist, and even nutritionist have been distorting, and confusing consumers with the foods that are out in market these days. For example, Pollan talks about margarine, and how scientists “claim” that it is a better, and cheaper substitute for butter, but it contains all these unnecessary ingredients that could be more harmful to the human body.
College students can waste almost all of their money on food if not spent wisely. For instance, taking a trip to the store and buying groceries will get students much more for their money than spending it on fast food all the time. Buying bread and deli meat is a good money saving decision because those sandwiches will last them longer than a fast food meal for a night. Students who are smart with their money and who make the right decisions on what and where to eat will save themselves large amounts of money. Also, buying healthier snacks may not taste as sweet as donuts or cakes but they do cost less.
The situation is very ironic because the grocery stores with nutritious food advocates for fast food restaurants that are, in context, competing with their sales. Prices of fast food products appear cheaper than full home cooked meals. On average, costumers pay four dollars for a drink, a burger, and a side item. Additionally, fast food is fast. Each fast food corporation has special procedures to keep their paying costumers happy by giving them exactly what they asked for, fast food.
Instead, an easier alternative would be to educate people on the dangers and results of eating unhealthily as well as ensuring the process of making processed foods cost more than the healthier alternatives such as fruit and 100% juice products. The fact that lots of the unhealthy food that the population consumes simply because it is affordable, is one of the main causes for the lack of public health. Government involvement shouldn’t be necessary, but if it is, a plan should be instituted that would allow healthier options to be cheaper than the unhealthier alternatives that are more common.
