From the physical perspective of home, I live in a beautiful two story house on a nice quiet cul-de-sac in what most people call suburbia. It’s a great place to have friends and family over. However, the most important thing that comes to my mind when I think of home is an enjoyable, happy place where you can live, laugh, and learn. It’s a place where you are loved, respected and cared for. When you look at it from the outside, home is just a house. But on the inside, it’s a lot more then wood and bricks. The saying “Home is where the heart is” says it all. Home is where your memories are created. Without memories, most people wouldn’t be who they are today. The origins of those memories are typically based in the family experiences of their past. Coming home every day to my mother’s warm embrace, the delicious aromas of my step-fathers cooking coming from the kitchen, those are the memories that make home for me. On holiday’s we would gather together to create a feast for all us to enjoy as a celebration of not only the holiday but our ties together. The smell of my home after returning from being away brings back the love and comfort of those memories created. It does not matter how far I go away from home, it will always be a part of me. My home is defined by my family. Regardless of what I bring home or how I feel about something, my family is always accepting of my point of view. We discuss things, we explore ideas, and we debate issues. My parents have showed me how to do the most important things in life which are to love and to be loved. My parents are always there for me in times of support and necessity. When I am sad, or things are not going right, I know that I can always rely on them and I can leave all my stress, and worries behind because I have home to look forward to. Those of us who are lucky enough to have a home that they can call their own
