In 1923 he led an unsuccessful coup attempt known as a putsch in Munich. He was sent to prison where he wrote Mein Kampt (my struggle), which outlined his beliefs. Hitler’s beliefs: * Hitler was anti- Semitic (hatred of Jews). He blamed them for all Germany’s problems. * He believed Germans belonged to the master race.
He set up his first concentration camp in Germany in 1933 soon after he came into power. For example one of the most effective plans was the concentration camp which there was in fact an infamous one called Auschwitz. Hitler put people that went against his laws in the camps. In order to make sure the plan of keeping only the “superior race of human beings”, Hitler put people who he deemed not of the superior race in the concentration camps, like, homosexuals, Jews, hippies, gypsies and anyone that Hitler found to oppose him. It’s given in a source that Hitler came to power in 1933 and began to attack the treaty of Versailles.
But not just the Jews were involved in the Holocaust. Those with mental or physical disabilities were sent to a “hospital” were they were told they would be getting cared for but instead they were murdered with lethal injections, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, trade unionists, political opponents, Poles and Soviet prisoners of war were sent to the concentration camps. Hitler wanted a country with a race of Aryan. They had blonde hair and blue eyes; Hitler wanted to get rid of anyone that stood in the way of this happening. Hitler used propaganda to convince the people of Germany that it was the Jews that were the result of all their problems.
Afraid of the American troops finding the work camps; Hitler ordered all work camps to be evacuated to death camps deep in Germany. Death Marches Death marches began when enemy forces invaded Germany finding work camps. Hitler didn't want his enemy's finding even more work camps and liberate them, so he decided to get rid of the evidence. The death marches
Hitler captured people in his speeches with his promises of a better Germany, but he also taught his hatred of Jews in the process. “It was Hitler’s belief that the Jews had too much money, land and the power of the press.” (library.thinkquest.org) Hitler caused mass hysteria against Jews by creating this frame of mind that they were the cause of all things bad just like Abigail and her posse did to Salem. Unfortunately, the people who are completely innocent in these cases get punished the most. In both the Salem witch trials and the Holocaust many people were killed who were not
Hitler using it to take out the only other opposition, the communists. He blamed tem, and people now wanted the Nazi party in power. When parliament met after the Reichstag was built hitler took the chance to have his Enabling act passed. The Enabling act in 1933/4 gave him complete control and power. It also made everything he did legal.
The police, helped by the SS and the Gestapo, tried to prevent all open opposition to the regime. (Lowe, 2005) Hitler ordered the SS to murder suspected SA officers on the Night of the Long Knives on June 13 1934 to ensure his absolute control of the party. The judges of the courts were Nazis, and they were not fair and impartial to the trials. Hitler’s opponents, mainly comprised Communists, Social Democrats, Catholic priests and Protestant pastors were arrested by the Gestapo and many of them were sent to concentration camps. In Nazi Germany the police were allowed to arrest anyone they suspected to be a threat to the party and anyone who openly opposed Nazi in public would be tortured, even to death.
The state police force was placed under the control of Heinrich Himmler (leader of the SS) and the SS and the Gestapo were used to hunt down opponents of the Nazi regime. These measures resulted in the Nazis gaining complete control the policing, legal and judicial system in Germany. The Nazis made fundamental changes to the education system. History was re-written to fit Nazi ideology. Lessons concentrate on the origins of the Nazi Party and the history of the Aryan Race.
Once it became clear that they were not going to win the war they made it their very mission to destroy every piece of evidence and documentation that called for the extermination of the Jewish people. The Holocaust denial movement began in the Western world following the Nuremberg Trials. Holocaust denial is an attempt to negate the established facts of the Nazi genocide of European Jewry. “It depicts a picture by which Jews conspired to create a hoax, the greatest fabrication of all time. Adolf Hitler did not plan genocide for the Jews but wished instead to move them out of Europe” (Cohen- Almagor, 2008, 216).
He tried so desparately to create a total blonde-haired, blue eyed poplation and anyone who wasn’t of that demographic was to be executed. Purifying the world as a complete Aryan race was his idea of perfect. Hitler could not see a world with anyone but his “own” people and his main target were the Jewish people of the surrounding countries. Many countries that Germany asked for help were very hesitant to lend a helping hand so Adolf Hitler attempted to take over the world by himself. It is believed that Adolf Hitler had put a tremendous amount of blame on the Jewish population for the losses of World War I and embarrassment that wouled ensue Germany afterwards.
