Adolf Hitler: Brief Biography Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 to parents who both came from poor peasant families. Hitler’s father, Alois Hitler, was born as an illegitimate son to a housemaid. He was a very intelligent and ambitious man, in his later life he was able to strive and become a senior customs official. Hitler’s mother, Klara Hitler, was Alois’ third wife and she was twenty- three years younger than Hitler’s father. Alois was fifty-one years old when Adolf Hitler was born. He always had high hopes for Adolf; he wanted him to do well in school and in life (Simkin, 1997). The reason Alois wanted Adolf Hitler to do well in life was because he already had one failure of a son he did not want another one. Hitler’s older half brother was arrested and sent to prison for theft. Alois Hitler’s father had two children before he met Klara, there is not much is said about the two children. The two of them, Klara and Alois had five children altogether, but only two survived to adulthood, Hitler and his younger sister Paula. Alois, Hitler’s father, would viciously beat his children if they disobeyed or did not perform highly in school (Simkin, 1997). In primary school Hitler did impressively well, and it would have appeared that he had a bright academic future. At the primary level Hitler was very popular with his peers, they admired his leadership abilities. When Hitler was very young he and his family were very religious and for a while Hitler thought a monk would best suit him. These thoughts of being a monk quickly vanished as if they never existed at all. In secondary school the competition for being the best academic achiever was very tough. Hitler quickly realized that he was not doing well and he did not like the feeling of not excelling as he did in primary school, so he stopped trying altogether.
